Write a paper (1,000 words ) in which you begin crafting your personal theory of counseling. Include the following in your paper:
1. A discussion of your personal values and convictions about human beings and life in general. My personal values are using the golden rule, I value my family, friendships and caring for others. My personal convictions about human beings are to always treat them with respect and give support and help where I can. Just be kind!!
2. What are your beliefs and assumptions? My beliefs are that all men are equal and deserve a good quality of life. I assume that most people want what’s best for others.
3. A description of your family background and development. How do your family background and development relate to your present beliefs, values, and counseling theory? My family background is Christian based, I grew up with strong family dynamics. Both my parents raised me in their home, they’ve been married for over 50 years. I’m married and raised by children with the same values. I am second generation college Graduate and my children are 3rd generation and we come from a military background.
4. Detail a system of philosophy that supports your personal beliefs. What are the implications of this system for your counseling? Explain.
5. Identify and provide rationale for the one major theory of psychology and counseling that most closely resembles your own personal values and beliefs. On what points do you agree/disagree with this theory? Why?  (Benchmarks C2.1: Analyze scholarly examination and integration of theories relevant to counseling.)
