Introduction
This is a report on measures to be undertaken in investigating who was behind the continuing theft cases in Wilton Hotel. The last two weeks has seen cases of theft and burglary increase in the hotel to alarming levels. All the cases were reported to the police but investigations have been slow, meaning that it could take time for the organization to know people that were behind these cases. Concurrent sections of the report will explain methods to be used and reasons for their use.
Interviewing
Employees that were in the hotel when cases of theft and burglary occurred will be interviewed, the goal being to understand whether they had suspected some unusual behavior among their peers. This will help the investigating team to understand whether members of the labor force were involved. One of the ways that culprits would be caught is by being encouraged to provide alibi of their location and what they were doing at the time of crime. In addition, all employees will be interviewed at different times as a way of ensuring there was no collusion. Some of the questions to be asked will include: where were you at the time of crime? What were you doing there? Were you supposed to be there at that time? Who was with you? Did you notice anything unusual with your collogues? Though the interview will be directed to members of staff who were on duty at that time, other employees would also be asked to volunteer for the interview.
Evidence Collection
This method will be used to help investigators understand whether employees who were on duty had reason to be where there were during these incidences. The evidence of whether the absent ones were supposed to be at off-duty would further be investigated, and basis of evidence of that permission collected. This will be in the attempt to ensure that members of staff were colluding to perform the acts in question. Since it has been reported that some burglary did not involve any breakings, the evidence on whether members of staff had misused hotel key privileges will be collected. Patterns of sharing hotel keys between hotel employees will also be investigated. In regard to employees suspected on taking part in these activities, the investigating committee will be keen to collect as much information as possible.
Undercover investigation
The method will be used to see whether cases of balladry would continue in the organization. In this regard, the investigating team will make use of CCTV cameras in strategic locations. These cameras would be places in places that employees would not see. The benefit of this method is that it will serve as strong evidence incase theft cases end up being caught on tape. In addition to the cameras, the team will have some of its members play as new employees on various shifts. These undercover investigators will befriend the existing employees and therefore leading to sharing of information regarding cases of theft within the hotel.
Combining all of different methods is expected to have positive results in the investigation process (Woodhull, 2001, p. ). This is because the investigation team will use reputable professionals in all of the methods. The client should therefore be assured of high quality investigations that would lead to finding people behind recent burglary in the hotel.
