Since the devastation of World War II, the events in which the Jewish population were exterminated and the wars where German forces attempted to invade other nations are still being studied and mourned to this day. The question arises as to why Germany lost the Second World War and whether Hitler himself really cost Germany the war. Hitler’s strong and enticing speeches brought comfort to the German population at a time of extreme hardship, especially economically and essentially alluring the German voters to follow the leadership of Adolf Hitler. Paranoia is another major factor in which can support the basis of why Hitler’s tenacious train of thought was so fixed, and how his notion that he would create a perfect human race by eliminating innocent people that did not obtain the same beliefs has he did. It comes to think that Hitler did these horrible things for himself and his paranoia, rather than for his people. His stubborn ideology of ignoring generals in which were far more sophisticated thinkers and people and the nonsensical manner to invade stronger nations after being defeated previously, can be argued to be the fundamental reasons why the Germans lost the war. When the tides of war changed, Hitler blamed his Generals for not carrying out his ‘brilliant’ orders. Considering himself a military genius, Hitler was focused on simply expanding his empire and creating a pure human race as soon as possible. The ultimate problem with Hitler’s stubborn strategy was that he wanted things done quickly and did not gather his generals to discuss a logical approach. Likewise, he ordered for his troops to maintain their attack by advancing forward until the job was done and until Hitler essentially had got what he wanted. His plan to launch the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944, despite his generals’ misgivings, caused Germany to lose valuable men and material making the job of the final defeat of Germany easier for the Allies. This same strategy can be seen in the battle during ‘Operation Barbarossa’ where we see Hitler’s frantic obsession with simply attacking forward viscously, with no thought, leading to his soldiers dying from the extremely harsh conditions, due to a lack of appropriate winter clothing and from the shortage of food supplies. Such simple things somehow passed Hitlers obsessed mind and were really the ultimate weakness for Germany in the war.
The fact that Germany could not surpass Britain should have been clear evidence that Germany could not invade Russia, let alone its capital Moscow. In the battles of Britain, Germany was without landing craft, another example of insufficient equipment, and lacked control of the skies of Great Britain. An invasion by Germany was simply impossible, but not in Hitler’s mind. With Germany being dragged into various side campaigns from Greece to north Africa, again Hitler ordered to fight in those areas. And in doing so, it depleted the men and materials that could have been used in the invasion of the Soviet Union.
This comes to the fact that Germany did not learn from their past and failures, and ignored that fact that their strategies were not working.
