Unit #6 Discussion Post Response and Reply to 1 Classmate by Wednesday November

Unit #6 Discussion Post Response and Reply to 1 Classmate by Wednesday November 29 before 11:59 p.m. (EST)
In Unit #6 we focused on gender, sexuality and love, relationships, and social support. After reviewing this content, it is clear that the constructs of gender and sexuality tend to be fluid and not as clearly defined as previously assumed.
Discussing these concepts in middle or high school can help validate the thoughts and feelings of students as well as educate students about the scientific research with regards to sex and gender.
Keep in mind that some students are not provided with any sex education courses in school; some receive comprehensive sex education courses (this includes abstinence only education as well), and many are taught abstinence-only or the biological explanation of a reproductive act.
It is clear that students need a more comprehensive form of sex education, as research has shown that adolescents that receive a more comprehensive form of sex education, are less likely to report teen pregnancy. In addition, comprehensive sex education can help promote the importance of: healthy relationships, mental health, sexual health, reducing STIs, understanding gender orientation and identity.
* You may be able to relate to this topic as some students complain that they wish they would have received a more comprehensive form of sex education or some students have shared that they did not receive any sex education at all.
