Introduction

In this essay, we are going to discuss the book Understanding Race and Ethnic Relations, written by Vincent Parrillo. In particular, we need to focus on chapters 4 and 5, which analyze such concepts as prejudice, discrimination, and the relation between them. According to the scholar, prejudice can be defined as “an attitudinal system”, whereas discrimination is the behavior triggered by such attitude (Parrillo, p 105).
