This paper will focus on the theoretical aspects of quantitative research. In this paper, you will select a method to conduct a study to answer your research question. This paper will serve as a critical examination and justification of the chosen method. You will start by providing a background as to why your research question is important and the knowledge gaps that exist. This will consist of brief review of the literature (try to use systematic reviews and meta-analyses whenever possible to inform this section). Next, you will fulsomely explain your selected method and justify why this method is more appropriate than others. Finally, you will discuss the implications of this research or quality improvement project and why it is important (this is the ‘so what’ section of your paper, try to convince us that this work is important). I have added all the required material for this assignment. Please look at the marking rubric and assignment outline to ensure all aspects of the assignment is met.
The paper should be 8-10 pages (double spaced) excluding references and title page.
Required Components:
Introduction (background – including robust and critically evaluated evidence from the literature)
-Identify the research or practice problem. Why is it a problem? What is the knowledge or practice gap?
-Include reason for the study. Why is it important? What knowledge gap is it filling?
-Ensure that you synthesize and critically analyze the articles from published literature on the method you identified, using both nursing and non-nursing sources.

-Include aim of the study and hypothesis
Chosen method
-Fully describe your chosen method or quality improvement approach. Be sure to include:
 The philosophical and/or theoretical underpinning of your chosen research method and project (if you have a theoretical framework how does this map onto/inform your question and method, e.g., Chapter 6 of text)
 The fit of the chosen research method with your research question (e.g., if you are looking to establish cause and effect, a cross-sectional design may not be appropriate)
 Discuss the practical and feasibility consideration of your study (e.g., costs, timelines, participants burden, access to population/data – is the proposed method realistic)
-Describe the strengths and limitations of the method (e.g., bring in critiques from literature, examples of where this method has been used in nursing or health research, and any practical considerations)
-Compare your specific method vis-à-vis 1 other method to justify the use of your method to answer your research question (e.g., explain what other quantitative research method you could use to answer your research question and why the method you chose is the best fit)
Implications for practice
-Link back to your background section and explain why or how your study is meaningful to clinical practice. Why should we care about this study? Why is it important?
