This paper requires you to articulate this stance and describe in specific detail how you define your practice approaches. All discussions must incorporate course readings and must be based on specific individual, family or group examples from your field experience. The paper should be 12-15 pages in length.
You have been exposed to a range of practice theories in this course and have explored numerous ones on your own. What theories (discuss at least 2 from this semester) do you combine in your work with clients?
Discuss how you work collaboratively with clients using various assessment, intervention, and outcome strategies from your theoretical orientations.
Describe what other social work values, skills, and perspectives guide your practice.
Additionally, discuss how a strengths perspective is incorporated into your practice stance.
Social work practice is a continually evolving process. Using multiple practice examples describe how you have and have not been successful in developing relationships with diverse clients. What have you learned from these experiences about your own, your agency’s and your community’s value orientations?
Describe how your knowledge about ethical practice decision making has been expanded by these experiences and how you remain unclear regarding certain ethical dilemmas.
Summarize how you plan to evaluate your own practice and give examples of how you have and have not been able to do this.
Ongoing professional development is a key component of social work practice. What evidence informed practice literature would you like to explore and why?
What has been the major personal or professional paradigm shift that has occurred during your social work education? Demonstrate this by discussing practice examples that show this evolution.
Discuss what community or agency services you wished could have been in place to enhance your client’s lives and support your own practice approach.
Remember: All of the above must be demonstrated with specific examples, and course readings must be incorporated. While APA format is required for citations and references, use of “first person” is preferred in the body of the paper. Administrative students may use examples from their previous practicum, professional social work experiences, or another modification based on a discussion with the instructor.
