One of the measures that a healthcare organization can implement to enhance safe delivery of services while also limiting the spread of infections is emphasizing on strict hand hygiene protocols. Hands carry a lot of germs therefore it is necessary for both healthcare professionals and their patients to maintain good hand hygiene (Roshan et al., 2020). An organization can achieve this by raising awareness on proper hand washing techniques and installation of hand sanitizers at various points. This is necessary to help eliminate spread of diseases that result from a range of pathogens that an individual comes into contact with. Proper hand hygiene also plays a significant role in preventing the spread of healthcare-associated infections.
Healthcare organizations should also consider cleaning its equipment and surfaces on a regular basis. In this case high-touch areas such as door handles, switches and buttons have to be cleaned frequently to minimize spread of germs and pathogens through such surfaces. Maintaining proper hygiene within a healthcare organization is necessary to reduce the rate of healthcare-associated infections. The strategy achieves this by minimizing the number of infectious microorganisms and pathogens to limit the likelihood of infectious germs being transferred from one person to the other.
Another strategy that healthcare organizations should consider implementing to promote safe delivery of services is enhancing the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). In this case an organization has to maintain adequate supply of PPEs to enhance safety of professionals and patients (McCarthy et al., 2020). It is necessary for healthcare professionals to wear protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and gowns when providing care to their patients to minimize the risk of diseases spreading to patients and vice versa.
