In today’s world, diversity plays a critical role in any organization. This phenomenon implies hiring employees who are representatives of different races, cultures, genders, ethnicities, worldviews, and faiths. Thus, companies are provided with a vast number of advantages that will not only help improve the internal climate and communication but also significantly increase the efficiency and effectiveness of work. Therefore, this research paper aims to study the importance of diversity in the example of an organization such as Microsoft.
For this study, a globally well-known Microsoft company, which operates in the technology industry, was selected. The company’s website contains all the necessary information about its policies and strategies. Moreover, to conduct a more detailed analysis of the organization, an article was chosen called “Microsoft’s diversity & inclusion 2020 report renews commitment and redirects focus amid the pandemic and social unrest,” which deals with the topic of diversity. This company was chosen because the products of this manufacturer are used in all countries of the world, and the organization itself is famous for its successful policy towards employees.
Diversity is an important aspect that seriously affects organizational communication. This aspect implies the establishment of healthy working relationships between employees. In other words, it means creating an environment that will encourage communication and limit possible barriers. The article by Milanesi (2020), “Microsoft’s diversity & inclusion 2020 report,” notes that diversity is an advantage of Microsoft, where representatives of many ethnicities, genders, and races work. This helps to form communication that takes into account the differences of people and reflects respect and a desire to work together.
Further, the way that the company manages diversity to achieve success in its activities must be considered. Hence, diversity is an essential aspect of this organization, and the cultural differences that are present within Microsoft help it to perform its activities more productively.
It is worth noting that the company’s website provides a large amount of text and video material that will be useful for its customizers. Such transparency in the activities helps to increase the respectability of the organization and ensure competitiveness. Thus, diversity is included as a part of the organization’s communication to its employees and audience. Moreover, the company does not fully pay equal importance to diversity in relation to its staff and people who make a choice in favor of its products. This is because more information is provided on the Microsoft website about the workplace.
Therefore, the company’s diversity policy reflects its position as a global organization. This is since it takes into account all the diversity of cultural and national characteristics, working to increase awareness of the importance of their recognition. From my perspective, I believe that Microsoft is pursuing a successful diversity strategy that does not require significant and critical changes. It is worth noting that the organization should pay attention to the consideration of this phenomenon and the development of communication regarding employees and buyers.
