Introduction

The areas of health and wellness discussed by the book ‘The gifts of imperfections include living your life to the fullest and enjoying everything that you like doing. Further, this includes a stable mind where one can be able to take charge of his mind without following others blindly. In addition, this entails appreciating who you are without caring about what other people think about you. Additionally, the book talks about courage which means doing what you can without fear so long as what you are doing is right( Brown,2010). The book also talks of self-understanding which enables one to understand other people and relate with them in the right manner.

Main body

The ingredients of a happy life according to Brene include loving ourselves and understanding what makes us happy. Additionally, this could also help us understand others and relate to them in a good manner. Further, this also means that we strive to do the right things at the right time and also at the right place. This translates to a long and happy life because one is free from stress and depression. Long happy life also entails being at peace with yourself and practicing what you like doing most (Brown, 2010).

Consequently, happy life means great passion to yourself and those who matter most to you especially family and friends. Long happy life also entails the realization of the direction one wishes to go in order to achieve life aspirations. It’s simply doing things in the right manner while making yourself happy through appreciating who you are and valuing the achievements you have attained in life.

Then six dimensions of wellness discussed in this book include accepting ourselves the way we are and being happy for who we really are. Further, wellness entails striving to be the best especially after identifying where we want to be in the future. Additionally, One could follow the path that is right and this means doing the right things at the right time (Brown,2010). Wellness also means using the right connection so as to achieve your goals in life.

The connection could be friends who are always present when you need them as well as family members who offer you comfort when you feel down. Wellness also means being courageous to face everything even the unexpected. Further, wellness entails embracing compassion and always willing to extend it to others.

Whole-hearted living means living a life that you enjoy and a life that reflects who really you are. It further means achieving the things that you anticipate to achieve while using the best methods that won’t offend other people (Brown,2010). Wholehearted life means that you do everything that you could so as to help others fulfill their dreams. Additionally, wholehearted life means that you are content with who you are and what you have. According to Brene, wholehearted life means doing everything that you like in the best way possible but above all loving ourselves and appreciating who we really are (Brown, 2010). My definition compares to that of Brene in the sense that it is only after understanding ourselves that we could understand others and stay in harmony with them.

The key points of focus in this book are what makes life worth living. In addition, the book explains mistakes made by the majority toward living a fulfilling life. The book further concentrates on the attributes of a happy person in life and what brings about these attributes in life. Additionally, the book focuses on loving ourselves and accepting ourselves the way we are.

According to Brenes, the three tools of living are courage, compassion, and connection. To begin with, courage is something that is learned over the duration of time. On the other hand, compassion is acquired when we act in a passionate manner towards our family and friends. Finally, connection means relating with the right people in everything that we undertake (Brown, 2010). These three tools are not sufficient to live a fulfilled lifestyle because other virtues have to be included for one to live a wholehearted lifestyle. In my life, for example, I apply other tools for instance caution that enables me to be cautious before making any move that I intend to make.

The steps I could take in order to live an authentic life include first appreciating who you are which enables you to love yourself. Additionally, one has to understand what he/she wants in life, and while striving to achieve what you want always to remember that there are other people in the world and hence you shouldn’t hurt them.

The content relates to what I have learned earlier in the course that life that is not fulfilling is not worth living ( Brown,2010). This text gives complete coverage of what a good life is hence related to what I learned earlier about a life that is worth living.

Conclusion

My guideposts in life include cleanliness, honesty, and patience. The three guideposts assist me to improve my health in that by being clean both physically and mentally, I could improve on my mind and body health. Connectively, honesty makes my mind free from vices such as dishonesty which could lead to guilt. Further, patience enables me to be cautious before any decision hence avoiding regrets later.
