The Kuali Financial System software is designed to facilitate live financial transactions using live data. The Kuali Test Drive has a variety of modules that enable live financial transactions in one instance. Some of the most important modules that form the base of a Kuali Test Drive include the General Ledger, Reporting, Transactions, Workflow and Chart of accounts (Anderson 54). This type of financial system is widely used in institutions of higher learning because of the Kuali Enterprise Workflow module that is very comprehensive with a workflow functionality technology with the ability of meeting the needs of an ideal financial system for colleges and universities. This paper will highlight what the Kuali Test Drive entails together with the transaction and processing capabilities of the Kuali Financial System.
There are a lot of actions that need to be carried out when performing the Kuali Test Drive. This experience is very interesting because of the varied actions that the driver needs to perform. Some of the actions carried out during the Kuali Test Drive made General Ledger inquiries, transferring of funds, purchase requisition, salary expense transfer and submission of receipts (Anderson 78). These financial activities are simulated live with the help of the software that enables all the activities and actions performed during the test drive. The structure of the Kuali System is very effective and gives no room for mistakes. The instructions are very detailed with screen shots that make it difficult to make mistakes (Hossler 23). Mistakes committed can only be attributed to the driver and this gives the driver a perfect opportunity to become more knowledgeable through discovering the source of their mistakes.
The transaction and processing capabilities of the Kuali Financial System can in no way be questioned because the system has been proven beyond doubt as being one of the most effective financial systems. To begin with, the structure of Kuali enables effective simulation of financial activities right away from the initiator to the approver. The system is credited for having good and reliable approvers that give no room for mistakes (Hossler 32). The other interesting feature of this system is that the role of approvers can only be impersonated by the initiator commonly referred to as Khuntley. This feature enables the driver to have a feeling of the initiator and approver roles. The Kuali system is very useful in the process of locating transactions and documents within a financial system. The Kuali system locates transactions and desired documents by directly searching for the transactions and documents (Browning 45). The Kuali Test Drive enables the driver to simulate real life transactions in during the test and in the process giving them the much needed experience in dealing with real transactions. Despite the many advantages associated with the Kuali System, it is important for the driver conducting the test drive to avoid back door logging because real life scenarios are also simulated (Browning 45).
In conclusion, the Kuali Financial System is an effective financial system that meets the needs of higher education. The Kuali Test Drive gives the driver the necessary experience needed in conducting financial activities such as financial reporting and transfer of funds. The Kuali Financial System is gradually replacing the traditional Financial Information Systems used in Universities and colleges. The Kuali Financial System is one of the most effective financial systems and gives no room for mistakes.
