The phone is a convenient and operational means of communication; without which it is impossible to imagine modern life. They exchange personal and official information by phone, arrange meetings, establish and develop business contacts. Humanity has been using the telephone for more than a century: in 1876, the first, still imperfect, but already recognized telephone was created. A telephone conversation provides a two-way exchange of information regardless of distance. In a short time, the phone will connect you with a colleague from the neighboring department, with a subscriber on the other side of the ocean. But, as it turned out, women had a great influence on the development of telephone communication.
According to the New York Times, until federal authorities issued an official decree, Americans could not own a phone in their homes. Telephone communication was mainly used for work. In 1968, the situation changed; American citizens could have phones, but the innovation was considered harmful for frequent use, and few people dared to buy a phone (F.C.C. Shifts Stand on Phone Devices). Initially, the phones were used by men, as they worked, and women stayed at home and watched over everyday life and children. Over time, the use of the phone by women depended on the attitude of their husbands. Some began to allow calls from home.
Therefore, people began to notice a huge number of advantages. Firstly, women did not need to go out in inclement weather to ask a friend if she would go to visit in the evening. Secondly, it was not necessary to get dressed every time to go out, as it used to take a lot of time for women. People started calling their loved ones instead of going to them in another city, not knowing if they were home.
In conclusion, now it is very difficult to imagine the whole world without cellular communication. Especially recently, it has gained great popularity. Telephone communication allows billions of people to communicate here and now, online, without postponing problems and questions for later. Moreover, gender differences in society have significantly affected the importance of telephone communication. It was women who made an invaluable contribution and determined the new volume of telephone communication. Consequently, calls became popularized and became more important.
