I am currently assigned to a medical surgical unit where they have had a surge in catheter associated urinary tract infections CAUTIs. We have implemented getting the different teams together to work together in order to get buy from all the stakeholders we have to get them together. We have seen huge improvements, getting the physician team of residents, Attendings and Fellows involved, the certified nursing assistants, nurses and nursing leadership involved. We have also decided that if there is an incident of CAUTI then all the stakeholders should be involved not just nurses. We would then discuss how we could do better. This approach has been working in addition to having a very supportive preceptor who gets me more involved in project management every week it is a great experience. Please be reflective incorporating articles and references on the subject of CAUTI.
