Leaders in organizations must utilize authority to accomplish individual, group, and corporate objectives. Leaders should be capable of persuading their subordinates to work better and make crucial decisions, as well as their superiors and colleagues. Since reward power, expert authority, referent power, and charisma impact personal characteristics rather than formal elements, they are considered the most essential forms of power for executives.

Concerning the identification of the most important sources of power used in leadership positions, it is feasible to emphasize four types, including reward power, expert power, referent power, and charisma. The capacity to grant incentives gives an individual reward power (Bierman et al., 2018). Reward power is vital since individuals love being recognized and appreciated for their work, and this form of authority enables people to do so. More than the official power sources, leaders who attempt to be managers learn to create and employ this personal source of influence. Referent power occurs when one individual connects with and admires another, and it is significant since it contributes to the development of personal regard (Bierman et al., 2018). Another interpersonal form of power is charisma, which inspires sympathy, respect, and commitment (Bierman et al., 2018). It is critical in management since people want to emulate them due to an invisible combination of personality characteristics.

In conclusion, the ability to alter others, have an impact on others, or even control others is characterized as power. When it comes to identifying the most essential sources of power in leadership roles, four categories may be highlighted: reward power, expert power, referent power, and charisma. All of these categories have a positive influence on human attributes rather than formal elements, resulting in enhanced employee respect and loyalty.
