About Mosquitos

Mosquitos are small insects most commonly known as the fundamental vectors of Malaria. The name mosquito originated from Spanish meaning little fly, and it was derived from the word “mosca” that means fly. The feeding habits of mosquitos have a variance from other insects where both males and females feed on blood. For mosquitos, only the females feed on the blood while the males feed on sticky fluid. In America, the history of mosquitos can be traced well back since the mid-1600s where cases of the vector-borne virus, commonly referred to as yellow fever was recorded in New York where thousands of people died. The subsequent instances occurred in Philadelphia followed by New Orleans and Texas as it significantly spread to other American states. In this paper, Mosquitos are discussed into a profound extent with regards to the appearance of their bite, the aid of treatment needed to cure malaria as well as the preventive measures that people can utilize in dealing with the precarious vectors.

The mosquito bites are irritating, and they significantly affect the skin parts not only on human beings but also in other mammals and amphibians (Wells, et al. 2017). They pierce using the sharp scarlet that comes from a groove, and the irritation originates from the saliva. The mosquito bites do not only cause malaria to human beings, but they are also vectors of other disease infections that are deadly to animals such as dogs and horses. The female mosquito which is the carrier of malaria infection is commonly referred to as the Anopheles. Mosquito bites are itchy, and they significantly affect the skin resulting in irritating bumps. The itchy bumps appear after the anopheles mosquito uses its starlet to pierce on the skin while feeding on the victim’s blood.

Nowadays, mosquitos have become genetically adapted to the repellant due to continuous use of these chemicals. It has become a worry to many households as mosquitos exist globally and their irritating bites are a common thing to a human being. Malaria has significantly spread in the world becoming one of the fatal diseases that increases the mortality rate of the young, old and middle-aged people. However, there is a natural technique of reliving the annoying and irritating mosquito bites by the use of household ingredients. These ingredients include baking soda, toothpaste, ice, cotton balls, salt, aloe, apple cider vinegar, bar soap and calamine lotion. Relieving the pain involves following a simple procedure. First, place the ice cube at the itching place to ease the pain followed by applying solution water and baking soda at the same part. Rub a dampen cotton wool with apple cider vinegar to relieve the pain followed by application of toothpaste that eliminates the itching sensation (Bernardo, C. (2016). Apply aloe to heal the swelling, add saltwater solution and apply calamine lotion to a baby mosquito bite as well as rubbing with bar soap to relieve the itching.

In the household, every person tries to make an effort of making the family comfortable by coming up with various ways of preventing mosquito bites. Among the commonly applied techniques include the use of repellants and nets that are readily available in the market at possible cost. Malaria is a vital epidemic that the society needs to curb to enhance the functional well-being of the civilians. Therefore, it is the responsibility of every individual to take the recommended precautions of preventing mosquito bites where possible and significantly educating the community on the appropriate techniques of relieving the irritating pain an=s well as taking proper medication in case of malaria infection.
