The topic for the proposed research is centered around human factors’ influence on aviation. Human error is among the most problematic and challenging problems in aviation safety, which is why understanding its nature, causes, risk factors, and prevention can be highly valuable for both academic and practical purposes. In order to fulfill the latter pragmatic aspect of the research, the given study will be a case study as well as a systematic analysis of the existing literature on the subject.

For the case analysis part, the Tenerife airport disaster will be assessed, analyzed, and reviewed for its human error elements. The case provides an outstanding source of information since it was among the worst and most disastrous human error mismanagements in the history of aviation (Cloudberg, 2021). For the academic goals of systematic review of literature, the emphasis will be put on preventative solutions to minimize the impact of human factors. The central focus will be on the safety management system (SMS), crew resource management (CRM), threat and error management (TEM), line Operation Safety Audit (LOSA), as well as psychological aspects of human factors (Friend et al., 2020). The research design will be qualitative since comparing the solutions, their effectiveness, and the case cannot be solely conducted through a numerical or quantitative perspective. Research questions:

  • What are the effectiveness differences of SMS, CRM, TEM, and LOSA for human errors?
