RESEARCH PAPER
As explained in or discussions multiple times, your research paper is a great opportunity to reflect on all significant themes and ideas covered this semester. In addition, this is your time to be creative and expand your research based on your individual focus, passion and areas of future study. We covered complex themes spanning from environmental crises and economic/class inequities to racial injustice. Regardless of what your current or future major may be, you can find creative ways to expand your research and relate our class themes to what interests you the most. You can use and build on all sources in our modules, documentary films we saw in class, as well as additional sources I posted during the semester. In the midst of the current pandemic, climate change and difficult economic and social issues facing our country and the world, please feel free to use any additional sources that you find timely and relevant. In the process, please rely on credible sources of information, related books and verified public and academic websites, journals, documentaries, etc.
Prompt:
We live through unprecedented times in our country and the world. Under this option, you can explore a current issue that you want to focus on, as long as it is related to the themes of our class: from climate crises and environmental injustice to economic inequality and racial oppression. Channel your efforts and creativity to express your viewpoint by incorporating sources that support your argument and your passion for the chosen topic. This is your time. You are working hard to achieve your education. What kind of future do you want to live in?
Instead of procrastinating and suffering through the process, please consider how everything we covered this semester may relate to your specific major and desired profession. So, why not use this opportunity to research new and emerging fields of study in your chosen field? Environmental crises research spans from sustainable economic growth and business to science, humanities and communication. Could this paper become a great foundation for your future transfer application or scholarship essay? Absolutely. Use what you learned this semester and use this research with your future in mind.
Your research papers should be at least 11 – 12 pages long (no longer). Incorporate graphs, charts or any images as you want.
Remember to stay focused on your ideas, clear in stating your major points and precise in your use of diction.
