Introduction

Doctors are very important people in the society, because they are capable of diagnosing any kind of illness affecting an individual and at the same time provide the ailing individual with the necessary medication that will ensure that he or she feels well as the individual’s body goes back to normal functioning.

There are various ways in which doctors get to their patients and ensure that they are in the correct path towards recovering from their illnesses thus being individuals who are self-reliable and not over-dependent on their close relatives and friends when performing certain tasks (Pinsky par. 2).

Technology is fast changing and this has made it easy for patients and doctors to get in touch with each other through the interactive media like Televisions and Radio Shows. This has helped the doctors to share ideas geared towards their patients so that they can take certain measure that will help them to recover from their illnesses (US Eastern par. 4).

Popular reality TV shows like Dr. Phil and Dr. Drew amongst other Doctor-Patient Programs are commonly being aired on television. The aim of these programs is to sensitize and help the patients suffering from different ailments recover and attain normal body functioning. I believe that the Doctor-Patient TV shows like Dr. Phil and Dr. Drew Shows are very important to the addict patient, his or her family and friends as they aim at ensuring that the patient is in a position of getting out of his addiction and live a normal life (Pinsky par. 5).

Importance of these shows to the addict, family and friends

One importance of these shows is that they correlate between the patient and the others out there, the program will show case different kinds of patients hence, the patients will be able to compare themselves with the other addicted patients out there; therefore, giving them hope that it is possible to overcome the illness (US Eastern par. 7).

The shows are helpful because they offer the patients and their families’ positive attitude to go on with the medication and therapy, this is evident when the program hosts, introduce past addiction patients and how they are fully recovering. The opportunity of offering their testimonies to others definitely encourages the rest giving them the surety that they can overcome the problems (Pinsky par. 4).

The shows also provide the patients with directives that will help them overcome the problem at hand; this is when the program host provides the viewers with the procedures and directions that aimed at encouraging the patient to overcome the addiction problem or even diagnosing addiction symptoms at an early stage. This is quite important as it helps families or patients to be delivered from the illness or complications.

Effects of the Doctor-Patient shows to the addict, family and friends

The first effect of the program to the addict, family and friends it ensures that cohesion between the patient, the close relatives and friends is maintained. The program will advice all the relevant parties on the importance of team work to ensure that they all work hand in hand in order for the patient to overcome the problem at hand; thus reducing the likelihood of one party giving up before the addiction problem is solved (US Eastern par. 5).

The other effect of these programs on the patients is to offer directives to the addict, family and friends on the things they might do in order to overcome the problem at hand. Thus the program ensures that all the party’s involved are provided with the necessary information on their respective duties so that they stick to it in order to help the addict overcome the addiction (Pinsky par. 3).
