The world is a continuously changing environment, and it remains apparent that the security strategy in public and private sectors has experienced changes and modifications since the Civil War. An extended variety of factors and alterations could be regarded as a primary source of the progress of the legal system associated with security, such as the development of human rights and freedoms. Consequently, the critical goal of this section is to determine the impact of each factor on security in the post-Civil War period while understanding the changes, which were cultivated. In the end, the conclusions are drawn to summarize the primary findings of the paper.
One of the factors, which contributed to the necessity of changes in the legislation, was the introduction of well-established human rights and freedoms (Ness, 2003). Meanwhile, nowadays, the security strategy aims at the protection of the rights of the individuals while assuring their compliance with the established law (Purpura, 2013; Chen, Dimitriou, & Zhou, 2009). Based on the factors provided above, it could be concluded that the modern definition of security and its purposes as defined by the consequences of the Civil War due to the presence of the accumulation of democratic movements in the society, which prioritize the equality of races and diminish slavery.
Another factor has a critical with the development of the strong democratic basis after the Civil War, as it is related to the minimization of the occurrence of prejudice related to race while leading to the advancement of the anti-discrimination policies (Joher, 2006). It could be stated that in this instance, substantial attention had to be paid to the maintenance of human rights, as not all of the races were treated equally during the post-war period (Joher, 2006).
It remains apparent that the overall legal system had to change its focus to ensure the security of the individual citizens and maintain national safety at a sufficient level due to the potential occurrence of riots caused by the negative attitudes in the society.
Lastly, the technological progress and changes in the administrative functioning could be regarded as other aspects, which required the additional improvement of the security program (Trafton, 2015). In this case, one of the examples is the fact the framework has to be able to cover all changes in the movie industry, as the portrayal of the war in the film might be discovered as one of the reasons for the development of particular attitudes in the society such as “overly racist portrait of American history” (Trafton, 2015, p. 20). It remains apparent that the introduction of these changes during the post-war period is one of the drivers for the alterations of the flow of the security program.
In the end, it could be stated that a combination of the factors depicted above could be viewed as the primary cause for the establishment of the changes in private and public security strategies. It could be said that one of the most important features is the alterations in the social values, as the importance of freedom and equality was rising continuously.
Despite the essentiality of the issue of prejudice before the Civil War, the technological and administrative improvement cannot be underestimated, as it highlighted the necessity to increase the security of the information and to protect the public and private sectors from crimes. Based on the offered facts, it remains apparent that subsequent technological and democratic development led to the increased emphasis on individual rights while highlighting the necessity to minimize the presence of discrimination after the Civil War.
