Policy development and implementation are mostly described as separate and distinct stages that are within the policy cycles. The relationship between policy development and the implementation process can be quite blurred. In the policy development phase, both the technical as well as political issues must be addressed. This phase should be handled before the implementation program. This helps the agency personnel in evaluating the possible options and then producing the best option for a certain program. It is also essential as it helps in developing policies that enhance enough flexibility for the purposes of future changes that might be required.
Social problems are the behaviors or conditions that negatively affect an individual at a personal as well as a work level. They can affect the employee in various ways, such as their behavioral health as well as the success of the worker (Gray, 2019). One of the challenges that workers face is interpersonal conflicts which occur between two or more people. Such an issue has helped me in improving my work performance so as to avoid interpersonal conflicts. In order to achieve such a goal, I had to think critically and develop programs that accommodate other people at work. Better communication was part of the programs that help in positively affecting my workplace. This enhances meaningful conversations between team members, which then supports the achievement of goals in an organization.
Another way in which social challenges have helped me in designing programs that effect the workplace is through dispelling stigma. Leaders should make sure that there is no form of stigma in the workplace and also come up with programs that support a work culture. This is done by empowering workers to form a culture that they want since their productivity and well-being depend on it. Dealing with a pessimistic mindset is the other thing that affects workers in the workplace. Such a mindset can nurture a hostile environment which creates habits that can negatively affect other employees.
Policy practice is defined as applying social work skills in order to propose and transform the policies so as to attain the goal of economic and social justice. Employers have noted a primary challenge while recruiting corporate governance professionals (Williams-Butler, 2022). This is because there are policymakers or stakeholders that are very hard to deal with. However, there are some critical skills that an employee should possess so as to engage with the allies, shareholders, or opponents. Excellent communication skills are one of the most essential aspects of handling stakeholders. Such skills help in managing and capturing their expectations as well as their project’s goal. For instance, stakeholders that fail to reply to emails and phone calls can make a job very hard but with consistent communication, the employees’ job is made easier.
Problem-solving skills are another critical skill that is needed for engaging with stakeholders. This is because there will always be hiccups regardless of how the relationship is between the worker and the shareholders. However, learning the problem learning skills can help in mitigating the issues that might arise. An employee should also have the capabilities and skills of identifying key stakeholders (Williams-Butler, 2022). The stakeholder’s base will always be large depending on whether it is a one-off project or a continuous one. Having the skills to understand which stakeholder will be affected, how much influence they have and the level of interest they have on a project is paramount. For instance, a senior executive might not be interested in a certain project but their involvement might be their key to success.
Financial allocation of resources is the process by which leaders in a company quantitatively define the available resources and therefore make the right decisions concerning the deployment of those resources. It is very significant for people to understand the financial allocation of resources so as to reduce the costs of running the projects (Weaven et al., 2021). Budgeting for an upcoming project includes a lot more than just allocating resources. It also entails determining the right amount of revenue that is required to achieve a certain goal.
Having an understanding of the financial allocation of resources can also lead to better and more financing opportunities. For stakeholders to decide on whether to invest in a company or not, they value the current, past as well as the predicted financial performance. Showing documents for the previous periods with actual and budgeted spend can actually show the ability of a person running a business. Such skills are the things that an investor requires so that they can invest. Moreover, if there is the right number of resources allocated, policy development and implementation will go on effectively.
In the policy development cycle, the allocation of financial resources helps in establishing a culture that respects the relationship among financial risk, resource capacity, and strategic objectives. A specific number of resources allocated to a certain project reflects a company’s long-term financial vision and also creates an overall portfolio that generates return (Hudson, Hunter, & Peckham, (2019). Having a precise understanding of the process of financial allocation of resources helps in recognizing margins as well as the credit quality that enables access to the debt market.
