Please answer these questions and label them as question 1, 2, & 3. Please make sure each answer is 6-7 sentences long minimum.
question 1:
The report is 10 pages in length (if you disregard the intro materials and works cited pages) and is a pretty easy read. It has some natural bias to it, since it is put out by an organization opposed to bottled water, but the data is accurate and relevant. I’m also providing you with two supporting video clips, one supporting the views of the report and one from the International Bottled Water Association.
Here is a video supporting tap over bottled water.
Here is a response from the International Bottled Water Association to the issues in general.
Now it is your turn. From the report, focus on the environmental impact, the less stringent regulation issue, the ‘bottled water is not better water’ aspect, and the community aspect (impacts to essential water resources and the environment and community conflict) and tie that to the two videos.
At a minimum your input should address two of these issues in detail, as well as other thoughts and questions not on this list related to the report. Then read posts from your peers, select one that is meaningful to you and post an appropriate response. See your netiquette guide and scoring rubric for assistance on what constitutes ‘appropriate’.
Consider as well:
Should we allow companies to continue to build more water pumping/bottling plants and increase capacity at current plants, knowing our aquifers are declining?
Should we resume the National Park Service ban on bottled water and even expand it to other locations and other types of drinks in plastic bottles?
Should we require bottled water to meet the same health standards as tap water?
How do we address the disproportionate amount of plastic in the environment and in landfills from bottled water and other drinks?
Should pumping/bottling plants have to pay more fees for extracting the water to help pay the environmental costs for their actions, even though this will make the product more expensive for consumers?
Question 2:Review the etiquette and guidelines for posting if you have not done so recently!
This module discussed climate change and presented you with some of the evidence we currently have available to us.

Actions to the article on Eagle.
Several things must be acknowledged on topics of this nature.
1) The climate is changing.
2) What about people that claim climate change is not real? Am I saying their claims are lies (based on #1 above)? Not at all. I’m simply saying that the climate IS changing and has always changed, as is the nature of a global climate with this type of atmosphere. The people that claim climate change is not happening are really trying to claim that ‘humans are not having an impact on the climate’.
3) Is there room for debate as to if humans are impacting Earth’s climate? Certainly. The primary debate will have to be a discussion on the magnitude of the impact we have had, are having, and will have.
4) There are some that claim climate change is not real more from a convenience factor than real conviction against the science. If we admit that the climate is changing and if we admit that we had and have a hand in these changes, then we have to look at ourselves and start considering our roles and responsibilities as individuals.
5) Every positive change that we include in our lives is a step in the right direction. Even better, positive changes are like rabbits. You start with a small number and they grow and reproduce rapidly if you let them.
Read the article and consider your own lifestyle, your own decisions on a daily basis, and the impact those decisions have on the world around you. Don’t take the article too literally- yes, it is talking about swapping beans for meat. Rather than thinking of this in terms of ‘all or none’, consider what a simple change it would be to reduce meat consumption. Perhaps by replacing meat with beans in some meals, perhaps by simply reducing the amount of meat consumed in a meal. OR perhaps we make a more concerted effort to be educated about the source of our meat and select brands produced in a sustainable manner. Don’t get hung up on the difficulty in getting Americans to give up beef completely. THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE. Reducing meat consumption overall and finding ways to help encourage people to reduce meat consumption is the issue. Finding babysteps that people can take in their lives to be more sustainable- THAT is the issue. Don’t build your response around your like or dislike for beans or your like/dislike of meat. The fact is that we don’t need to consume as much meat as we do and the fact is that reducing meat consumption would improve personal health for the average American and would LIKELY improve the health of the environment (depending on what we replace meat with!). Further, the fact is that small changes in our lifestyles CAN make a difference.
As well as addressing your thoughts on the ideas the article represents, address as well the roles (in helping cause) and responsibilities (to make changes to help fix) of individuals.
By individuals here, we are talking about ourselves. What is YOUR role and YOUR responsibility as an individual? Describe and justify. Then, after your own meaningful post that contributes to the conversation, respond to at least one of your peers in a meaningful manner that contributes to the conversation and encourages the discussion to continue. I did not give you as long on this particular discussion as the previous two- this is the classwork assignment for the climate change module. Clearly reference your suggestions and ideas back to the chapter material to demonstrate your grasp of the subject matter.
As indicated in the guidelines module- only professional, courteous, and meaningful contributions to the conversation are allowed.

The article is here. Links to an external site. Read it carefully and thoughtfully. Express your thoughts on the topic, referencing course material and article content, in a coherent, intelligent, meaningful, and appropriate fashion for your classmates’ consideration. After you have expressed your thoughts, you will then be able to read responses from your peers. Select one and respond to their comments in a meaningful and appropriate fashion.
Your initial post and all responses should be meaningful. This means they add to the conversation and encourage further discussion. Simply stating that you agree with someone’s post or that you like what they said does not constitute a meaningful post.
Scoring rubric and netiquette documents provided in your first Eagle Module.
You are allowed to disagree with your peers, just as you are allowed to disagree with my opinions, though I seldom share opinions within the course materials. However, if you are going to disagree, you will do so in an intelligent and mature fashion. You will state your beliefs and back those up with science. You will not bully, demean/humiliate, attack or harass any other person as part of your response. Such actions are a breach of course and institutional policy and warrant referral to to Dean of Students and can result in sanctions, including a failing grade for the assignment and potentially dismissal from the class with a failing grade.
