Introduction

Leadership and motivational techniques are increasingly becoming central in both the finance and quality realms. To be successful as a manager of an organization, a person should have a strong relationship between his or her core values and philosophy of leadership. Another important aspect is that the leader must assess who he or she is before taking the leadership position. The leader must also have appropriate strategies on how he or she is likely to realize the goals of the organization as well as a realistic plan on how to attain a target (Besterfield, Besterfield-Michna, Besterfield, & Besterfield-Sacre, 2003; Hakala, 2008). Other beneficial characteristics can assist one to become a better leader. My leadership philosophy is an amalgamation of qualities, traits, and strategies and strengthens them upon my key core values.

My core values

Core values are very much important in life since they provide the basis for building a person’s life and they define a person, group, or organization by what they personally or collectively believe. Therefore, identifying my core values is the initial significant step in establishing my leadership philosophy since almost everything stems from the core values (Malphurs, 1996, p.23). Imperative values that establish my foundation are family (which consists of other several values), friendship, relationships, honesty, respect, principles, and humbleness. Others are self-sacrifice, evolution, belief, stoicism, diligence, bravery, and nobility. Even though a number of the values listed above are directly associated with my leadership philosophy, they are indirectly related because they influence me as a person. In my leadership philosophy, every single one of the values assists in reinforcing the foundation for my life and leadership philosophy.

My vision

Arising from these key core values, I can develop a vision. This vision contains where I would like to be in the future and the methods I would use to reach there (Leboeuf, n.d; Sims & Quatro, 2005). Personally, my vision is to reach a management position in an organization as fast as possible. This is through retaining my core values as well as living a well-balanced life (Covey, 1991). To serve as my moral compass, I have created strategies or plans, which are an imperative aspect of any leadership philosophy. On the road to fulfilling my vision, many chances will be available to me to make use of my leadership philosophy. Comprehending and making good use of my leadership philosophy beneficial to my strategies.

The core values that I have mentioned above consist of several important attributes that I will apply in my leadership philosophy as tools to enable me to realize my vision (Kaufman, 2010). One of the vital aspects I take pleasure in is honesty since it is the first value I will be looking for in any follower or colleague. Respect is another important value since one cannot follow a colleague to attain a particular vision if there is a lack of respect amongst them. Respect is also connected to other aspects of my vision such as honesty, relationships, humbleness, and diligence. Since it is of essence that a leader gains the respect of his or her followers, I can achieve this by adhering to my core values. Relationship and friendship are also essential. This is because a successful leader has to have the ability to associate freely with his or her colleagues or followers.

Some of the core values I mentioned are self-sacrifice, stoicism, bravery, evolution, nobility, and principles. I have the belief that every one of these values can make me be who I am. Furthermore, they can enable me to become a better leader and person (Kouzes & Posner, 2002). This is because they are capable of reinforcing other core values and directly influence my leadership ability. One of the vital aspects of my philosophy revolves around my family. My family provides much-needed support for the building of my philosophy (Perkins, 2000). All the values that I have mentioned are directly or indirectly dependant on one another. If I can uphold these values, I staunchly believe that I will have a superb leadership philosophy (Therefore, I will have succeeded in life and attained happiness.

Conclusion

Time is capable of transforming a person’s philosophy based on the circumstances that are likely to take place. I must bond my core values despite what may happen since they define who I am. My leadership philosophy is founded on the core values that I have mentioned and in realizing my vision, I must stick to my guns, my leadership philosophy. This is what will determine my leadership success. Since I do not want to be just another manager, I must tie my core values with my leadership philosophy as I will desire to lead my followers in attaining an objective or a vision.
