The purpose of this study is to quantify quantitative outcomes of a practice change to a blended form of bedside nursing report. (Sand-Jecklin & Sherman, 2014).

Research Design It is a “quasi-experimental pre- and post-implementation design” (Sand-Jecklin & Sherman, 2014).
Sample Selection The patients hospitalized at a minimum of two days and discharged in the month of baseline data collection were randomized. It should be noted that the results were obtained in a sealed envelope to achieve the confidentiality of the results (Sand-Jecklin & Sherman, 2014).
The nurses for the research were asked to fill the questionnaire by the email as well as the fliers posted on medical-surgical units of university hospitals.
Data Collection Methods, Measures and Tools The authors used the survey instrument from the other study with the authors’ acknowledgment. The tool was revised according to the results of the literature search, and an improved version consisted of 17 sections concerning different components of nursing behavior (Sand-Jecklin & Sherman, 2014).
Plans for Data Analysis The authors claimed to conduct data analysis using ANOVA comparison of the survey results before and after change implementation (Sand-Jecklin & Sherman, 2014).
Strengths The mentioned research can be considered a substantial investigation due to some reasons. First, the authors designed the method with test-retest reliability that could be implemented in other settings to check the generalizability of the results (Fain, 2017). Moreover, the test adequately measures the objectives of the study (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2018). These two points are the strengths of the given research paper.
Weaknesses There are some distinctive weaknesses of the discussed paper. The sample is limited to the particular hospital and its setting. Hence, the results can be biased and need to be checked for applicability (Fain, 2017). Next, the methods did not consider or limit the possibility of submitting the questionnaire from the same device. Therefore the results could be inclined to a particular opinion (Fain, 2017). These two factors weaken the results of the given research paper.
