The Wipebook is an exciting project from an engineering perspective. However, the paper industry is gradually giving way to digital competitors. In the short term, it can bring significant profits, mainly if the promotion focuses on an older audience as well as educational professions. It is safe to say that the second stage of brand development was the best. It implies both a Kickstarter campaign and promotion through professional and personal networks as well as sales in general.
The weakest aspects of their business model were the first and third stages. Their Indiegogo campaign has failed, and the founders experienced some engineering and market difficulties. The third stage is less dramatic but has such negative aspects as a failure with investment and dismissal of Thomas. However, directors and the company continued to excel financially.
There may be two big problems in the company. One of them is the possible lack of demand due to the significant development of digital technology. The second problem is the next potential directorial scandal over a patent because Frank has exclusive rights.
The company was developing in leaps and not gradually, nevertheless in two years having reached the status of an international brand, which is undoubtedly a rapid development. The advantage is that they do not depend on credits and other banking conditions because they chose financing through Kickstarter. However, they could suffer critical failure at the Wipebook 1 stage because they did not collect the necessary money. The instability of crowdfunding platforms is a significant drawback. The second campaign was a success because it was preceded aggressive promotion through networks, as well as short deadlines for collecting donations. It is no secret that short periods and actions have a psychological effect on consumers. The constant feedback from the founders also played a role. My personal opinion about the team is that greed engulfed Toby and Frank. They could fix their problems so that all participants remained directors and distribute the duty without bringing Thomas to be physically and psychologically exhausted.
Challenge is associated with an unexpectedly large request and the price of overseas delivery. The turning point was the disagreement of the founders over the statements of Christina and Olivier. They saw the success of the company and wanted the appropriate amount for their work. A lesson from this story is the importance of legislatively concluding terms and conditions before starting a business.
