Margaret Tietz is one of the nursing and rehabilitation centers located in the United States. This facility was established in 1971. Since its inception, it has maintained a tradition of offering excellent medical and health care services to the community it serves. This facility has been able to expand its services through the years and it is now offering a number of services in the following departments. The rehabilitation department is concerned with providing both short term and long term rehabilitation programs to clients. In order to meet this objective, patients are given both physical and occupational therapy by highly skilled therapists. Hospice care was established to provide comforting end of life services to patients and also to their families. The hospice team provides medical supplies, nutritional counseling and social services to patients.
Palliative care is given to patients who have special medical needs. For example, palliation of symptoms is offered to patients experiencing long term illnesses that cannot be cured. Day health care unit is also available and it provides a nurturing environment to patients residing in their homes. Such patients are mostly experiencing chronic health complications such as stroke, osteoarthritis, and physical disabilities. Patients who are enrolled at this facility are given nutritional and medical services. Besides health services, they also receive personal care and recreational services. This facility has a qualified acupuncturist that offers both alternative and conventional drugs. He deals with psychological disorders, paralysis, and other physical complications.
The center is cable of dealing with a large population of patients who experience varied medical problems. Most of the clients served at this center are mainly drawn from New York, but we also have patients who come from different regions of U.S. The above mentioned units deal with different target populations based on the services offered in each case. Generally, the hospital is capable of dealing with patients from all the age brackets. However, we mostly serve adults and elderly individuals who have special medical conditions that are related to the services we offer. Even though this is the case, it does not mean that young patients are barred from accessing our services. If a patient needs our services we offer them regardless of his age bracket. Most of the patients served here are elderly people with long term sickness, physically disabled and psychologically disturbed individuals. In addition to these, we offer counseling services, and nutritional advice to people.
The hospital has a strong management team that has streamlined the operations of this center. In each of the departments mentioned above, we have management officers who oversee the daily operations of each and every department. The departmental officers also ensure smooth coordination of the activities and services offered in the departments. In addition to these, they also implement all decisions made by the board of directors.
Most of our clients get their medical financial assistance from donor funds. In this case, some organizations and companies offer financial support to some of our patients who experience long term illnesses. Some of the programs we offer are partly funded by other organizations who aim at facilitating access to those services. For example, the guidance and counseling services are partly sponsored by other agencies. Insurance medical covers are also providing medical financial support to some of our clients.
Some of the challenges affecting our human resource department are staffing and remunerations challenges. At present, the facility has more than three hundred employees. This number of workers is not enough for us to effectively serve the growing population of patients that require our services. The employees we have also need better salaries and more allowances. These demands have come in light of the current global economic situation that has led to a high cost of living (Allen, 2007). The poor staffing has forced our employees to put up with long working hours and this has been a great challenge to them. Another issue affecting our human resource department is the high cost of hiring doctors and nurses who are specialized in various medical services (Pratt, 2009).
Currently, many people are contacting serious diseases like cancer and other physical complications that require long term medical care. The need for long term care services is therefore increasing and this trend will therefore put more pressure on our resources. In order to solve these problems, we have put in place the following strategies. We are planning to higher more employees and we also plan to recruit more volunteers to assist us in offering the services. This will enable us to solve the problem of understaffing. This center is also planning to expand its facilities in order to accommodate more patients (Singh, 2009). In addition to these expansion plans, we are also looking for more sources of funds to support our programs. This is because the cost of running the center has been on the upward trend and we therefore need more financial resources to cater for the logistical needs of the center.
