I would like to work in the telecommunication industry in a managerial position. I am a holder of an information and technology degree and master’s in communications and have worked as a customer service representative and also as an innovation team coordinator, thus possess the necessary skills and experience in a managerial position in one of the industry’s companies. Furthermore, I have an oratory talent and negotiating capability, which has enable me to hold leadership positions not only at the job level but also at my student level.

I believe the coordinative ability within me speaks out loud, a fact which has enabled me to acquire the leadership skills necessary to meet and fulfill the goals of a given company. Additionally, all my undertakings have equipped me with the ability to handle different kinds of problems, people, and situations so can deal critically with situations (Robbins &Coulter 2008).

The current worker’s layout in the telecommunication’s industry creates new opportunities for new job seekers as a result of changes in technology, the competitiveness of necessary skills as well as the increasing number of retirement. However, the need for intensive skilled professionals is accompanied by high competition from those with high skills creating minimal chances of securing the few numbered posts. As stated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the telecommunication industry is expected to reduce its employment by more than 7 percent; this creates a threat to job seekers in this industry as it concentrates more on maintaining the most qualified workers and not employing new ones.

This, therefore, calls for persistence to qualified job seekers something that I consider as my weakness; I don’t like following up or pursuing something too much. Although I enjoy coordinating situations and leading people, fighting for that position wears me out (Robbins &Coulter 2008).

However, as a manager, I would strive to ensure the industry makes a significant leap from the position it is now to a higher position in five years to come. Several goals that the industry will have acquired by then include; return of its good image in employment and offering employees good terms, holding the best and qualified workers, providing the best services to the customer, leading in the competition with other communication-related companies, a booming future in profit-making, spreading the services not only in developed nations but also in developing ones, and creating employment both to professional and non-professional.

The telecommunication industry has been termed as a decelerating industry being overtaken by other service provider industries. It has been seen as an industry suffering from a shakeout involved in massive layoffs with companies such as; 3com, Teligent, WorldCom, Nortel Networks Limited, and Lucent being good examples of how the industry is laying off its workers. Despite this being true, the information has been exaggerated by the press which fails to state that it is not only the Telecom industry that layoff people but all other industries. Pursuing press to inform people about global employment trends and that technology dictates who to be employed and to be laid off and not the company will ensure a good image is once more recovered.

Besides, through the recognition that productivity is improved by the technology, ensuring that staffs with the talents, skills, and experience that agree with the current technology get opportunities in the company will ensure that only the best and qualified worker get into the industry. This will be accompanied by the employment of technology that will replace directory and telephone assistance which are gradually finding their way out of this industry.

To achieve this, qualified and highly-skilled engineers who are capable of developing this technology will be given the highest priority in the employment market. This will enable the industry to hold the best quality services that will entail integrated high-speed data services as well as worldwide wireless networking among others needed to improve people’s living standards.

According to the change and demand of the exciting new technology, in ensuring that the workforce gets equipped with the necessary information and skills, I would ensure that this information is disseminated to the public through the press and media as well as through promotions to educate the public on the rise and change of the technology, and the importance of undertaking the academic angle that suites well with the new technology, such as computer software engineering, customer service professions, and system analysts among others like electronic engineering.

This will ensure that at all times there is an available qualified workforce needed to work together with the technology changes. This will ensure that the industry has the opportunity to choose the best of workers, who will uphold the productivity of the industry in the competitive service-related market. Besides, this will ensure that the residential customers get supplied with the best, from the products of the industry, and their satisfaction, the industry will realize its profit goal (Robbins &Coulter 2008).

Extending the external network will enable the industry to penetrate developing countries mostly in Asia and Africa. For example, extending underground optic fiber cables to this country as well as installation of information pipes and pits will connect these countries with the world. More importantly, this will not only create job opportunities for IT professionals but also for people without skills in the installation of these systems and preparation of grounds in fixing them. Also besides providing manual work to non-professional employees, other jobs will get created within the industry’s employment sectors such as telecom and cable providers, distributors among others.
