Introduction
Large corporations are profitable but difficult to manage due to increased administrative pressure on leaders. SIA is highly profitable due to the adopted continuous improvement strategy. However, the company’s success is becoming vulnerable due to increased consumer demand and customer satisfaction. Additionally, there is increased disunity among the employees. The increased vulnerability requires SIA’s leadership to be more creative than its competitors. Therefore, maintaining a leadership position at SIA is difficult due to the overwhelming management activities.
Difficulty in Maintaining Leadership Position at SIA
Organizational leaders play a significant role in the growth and maintenance of the performance of businesses. However, adopted business strategies and a company’s expected performance may hinder leaders’ performance. Various factors may encumber the maintenance of leadership positions within SIA. First, the adopted continuous improvement strategy has reflected the company as an offeror of the highest quality service that is uncompromising. Consequently, any failure by the company to deliver quality services can be ridiculed by its clients. However, external business environmental factors that SIA has little or no control over have negatively impacted the delivery of services. For instance, the increased fuel prices hinder the execution of loyalty programs initiated by SIA (Jick, 2011). Therefore, failure by SIA to deliver quality services due to a negative external business environment may discourage its leaders.
Moreover, SIA has always tried to maintain the service offering, which makes it difficult to track profitability. The company has indulged in many programs to retain its clients and motivate its employees. The programs are becoming unstable, putting pressure on the management to seek profit-making alternatives, which is a tasking activity (Foss et al., 2022). While the diverse working environment is beneficial for the company, the mixed employee population may be difficult to lead. SIA’s employees have conflicting beliefs and values, which is against the Biblical provision of Mark 12:31 about love (You Version, 2019). Therefore, bringing together SIA’s employees is a difficult task for the leaders.
Conclusion
SIA is a big and profitable corporation but with internal and external business pressures. The company has adopted strategies that require more creativity and hard work among its leaders. Moreover, the strategies risk the company’s competitiveness in the airline industry. Disunity among SIA employees is also evidently making it difficult for the company to achieve its mission and vision. Many leaders are likely to quit their positions at SIA due to its prevailing harsh internal business environment.
