The 2020 year is marked by numerous problems that affect society and demand immediate solutions. However, our time is also characterized by serious advances in different fields of science that drive technologies and create the basis for the further development of society. People also look into space in attempts to investigate it and understand it better. I think that topic of the spread of light is a relevant choice to understand the progress we have today. Additionally, I believe it is a topical and life-related issue as the technologies we have today are ready to move to the next stage. A better understanding of the peculiarities of light is critically important for making discoveries. From the course, I know that light has a unique nature that impacts its behavior in different environments. For this reason, the propagation of light, or how a wave transfers its energy from one point or another, is impacted by several factors. For instance, passing boundaries between mediums with different physical qualities, the wave can change its direction and the nature of the movement. This characteristic acquires the top priority for various areas. Understanding the propagation of light in optical fiber provides us with an enhanced understanding of how it can be used as a propagation medium to transmit information or signals (Gillen et al., 2013).
The recent discoveries in this field have already provided us with an opportunity to increase the speed of transmission (Gillen et al., 2013). At the same time, the propagation of ultraviolet, visible, and infrared light in tissue is central for the healthcare sector as it is used in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (Lorenzo, 2012). The technology is today used to investigate different tissues and conclude about their state. The problem of absorption also becomes topical as it might prevent the light from further spreading. That is why there are multiple attempts to improve the understanding of how the light propagates in various mediums and create models that will help to attain the high levels of energy transmission to meet the current goals of different sectors. Using all information related to the qualities of light and its behavior in different environments, it is possible to create the model to note any change in the direction of the energy wave and record it. By knowing how light changes its characteristics, we can improve the understanding of how to select mediums, guaranteeing better transmission. I hope I can understand the major elements of the model and how light behaves in a stratified medium. What I plan to do is to apply my knowledge in physics and mathematics to assume that light propagates differently and might experience total absorption because of the nature of mediums and boundaries. Complete absorption is possible at certain frequencies of light with zero reflection (McKechnie, 2016). For this reason, during the experiment, it is possible to use different mediums to create a graph of how the light propagates. Additionally, the equation of the point of light can be offered.
