The interviewee mentioned that they considered themselves a steward of health care because of the responsibility to carry out a range of functions to achieve the objectives of care. Apart from caring for separate patients, the professional mentioned that country-wide and international goals were also important to them. These goals included reaching equity in care, providing fair access and coverage of healthcare services, ensuring a high level of services, and protecting patients’ rights. Thus, when performing their everyday responsibilities, the professional was also dedicated to improving the sphere of health care in general.

Both authenticity and professional advocacy were fundamental during collaborative work with colleagues (Davoodvand, Abbaszadeh, & Ahmadi 2016). According to the impression of the peer, a leader had to possess power and influence as well as be authentic in his or her interactions with colleagues because they guided the process and enabled everyone to participate. The clinical coordinator, although, mentioned that while the qualities were important when they were exercised in excess, they could limit the healthcare delivery.
