Modern age can be characterized by a great level of rivalry. To become successful a person or organization should be better than the rest of the world and be able to compete with its rivals. With this in mind, it is possible to say that the work of all departments of any organization or a company should be organized in the best possible way to promote the good and beneficial functioning of an organization. Under these conditions, such an issue as human resource management obtains great significance. It is the remedy that can organize the functioning of the whole company and promote its becoming beneficial (Scholl 2009). However, there are a great number of changes that happen in all spheres of human activity and the issue of human resources is not an exception. With this in mind, it is possible to analyze the main peculiarities of the modern system which promotes the efficient functioning of the department responsible for human resource management.
First of all, it should be said that there is a great number of different functions peculiar to the department of HR in different organizations. First of all, it is responsible for hiring new workers which is vital for every organization. Moreover, salary determination, workers compensations and a great number of other tasks should be accomplished by this very department (HR: Functions n.d). That is why it becomes obvious that the efficient functioning of the HR department is vital for every company. It is impossible to become beneficial without the efficient work of stuff. The main aim of the HR department is the creation of the best conditions for workers which can lead to an increase in the level of their satisfaction and promote achieving better results (Torrington, Hall, Taylor & Atkinson 2014).
However, new conditions promote the appearance of new methods and strategies which should be used by specialists of this department (The Changing HR function n.d). To see these changes better, it is possible to analyze the work of some beneficial organization. With this in mind, Google seems to be the best choice for it. It is one of the most valuable companies in the world and now it uses some innovative technologies in its work. The thing is, that new technologies require new kinds of thinking and a new approach to some issues. That is why Google looks for people who can work under these conditions. Additionally, in Google “it’s not called human resources; instead, the function is called ‘people operations’”( Sullivan 2013, para. 7). The change of the title should show the change of the attitude to the issue. Moreover, all decisions made in this department are based on the analysis and information of different kind. The subjective approach to people is replaced by precise analysis of their qualities and skills with the main idea to determine whether these people will be able to help the company or not. Moreover, such unique phenomena as predictive modeling or the PiLab is used by the company to manage people better and analyze the level of their skills (Sullivan 2013).
However, these changes are just the first step towards a new system that Google is creating now. With this in mind, new and even more significant changes can be predicted. First of all, they will be determined by the further development of digital technologies. Being one of the most innovative companies in the world, Google will try to use them. First of all, it is possible to say that data analysis will obtain even more significance. It is possible to suggest that the whole work of the HR department will be based on the information obtained with the help of this kind of analysis. It will promote obtaining more objective results and an increase in the efficiency of a company as all workers will be characterized by a high level of skills.
Besides, it is obvious, that the level of the efficiency of functioning of the HR department of any company can be easily measured. First of all, it should be said, that the general success of a company and its competitiveness can be taken as one of the most significant factors which serve as evidence of the good work of this department. Additionally, some checklists, which main aim to determine the level of satisfaction of people with new methods of HR management, should be created. Data obtained with their help can be used for further improvements in the functioning of a company.
Having analyzed information about the main aspects of the work of the HR department, it is possible to make a certain conclusion. First of all, this knowledge can be applied to some other organization to make its work more efficient. Besides, some additional information can be obtained with the help of my classmates posts as they also present their point of view on this very question. Ideas presented in their works should be analyzed and taken into account while planning some programs according to which efficient functioning of the HR department can be organized. Resting on these facts, it is possible to say that the issue of HR management is very important nowadays and should be investigated.
