Purpose Statement
In this module, we focused on the recruitment and hiring practices and strategies you can use in your HR career. In this assignment, you’ll be able to apply those concepts as you interview someone in a position similar to one you would like to have in the future.
Instructions
This assignment addresses course outcomes 1 and 2. It is worth 30 points, and is due by 11:59 pm CST on the date due.
Part 1: The Interview
Interview a family member, friend, or someone else who is working in a job position similar to a job that you would like to someday have. During your interview, you should ask questions about the hiring practices of the organization where this person works. Ask questions like the following:
What makes the company different from its competitors? Does the company focus mostly on reducing costs, or does it try to provide goods and services that are somehow better than what competitors offer?
What tasks do you do on the job? What knowledge, skills, and abilities do you need in order to do this job effectively?
How long do most people stay at the company? Is this a place where most people work for their entire career?
What was the process that you went through to get hired at this company?
What type of qualifications do you think are most important for someone who wants to work at your company? If you were making a decision to hire someone to work with you, what characteristics would you want that person to have? How would you measure those characteristics?
Part 2: the Paper
Provide responses to the above questions in your submission. You should type out the question that you posed and then type out the interviewee’s response. You may number questions. Then, using the information obtained from the interview do the following:
Identify the competitive business strategy of the organization. (5 points)
Identify the human resource strategy of the organization.(5 points)
Evaluate whether the competitive business strategy and the human resource strategy fit. (5 points)
Evaluate the effectiveness of the organization’s selection methods for achieving its human resource strategy.(7.5 points)
Make recommendations about the selection methods that you think would be most appropriate for the position of the person that you interviewed. (7.5 points)

Your answers to these questions should be submitted in a typed 12-point font paper. For your paper, please list each question number and then provide your response to that question. There is no set page or word count for this assignment but your answers should be thorough. Late submissions will receive a grade of 0.
