Why are Professional Dispositions of Learners important in educational settings? Provide examples from your past educational experience. Professional dispositions of learners are important because it determines the success of students and helps to create a positive environment for everyone in the school community. The disposition I consider to be most important is Respect for the Diversity of Others. I believe that as an educator you must be respectful, accepting, and encourage respect for the diversity of others. Building relationships with your students, parents, co-workers, etc. can help build the community and give people a safe place to feel welcomed no matter the differences between us. Respect is so important in a school/work environment and I believe these values can encourage children to be more open-minded and accepting of everyone, not only in the classroom but outside of school as well. I have worked in a educational work setting for 2 years and I have heard teachers be disrespectful to the community they work in. Teachers have mad inappropriate comments in front of students and staff.

What skills, traits, or attributes have you seen demonstrated by effective teachers from your past educational experience? What skills, traits, or attributes do you believe you need to develop to be an effective teacher? Many teachers I have had experience with in my past educational educational experiences have had high expectations of their students. I believe that this pushes students to want to succeed. I believe high expectations, advocacy, and respect are all important values I need to develop to be an effective teacher.
