Introduction
People have often proclaimed themselves to be the kings of the world, but the planet tends to show where the real master is. People are often absolutely insecure when natural disasters come into play.
Jone Scott, a survival of many natural disasters and Oklahoma Service Unit Representative of Salvation Army, characterized the very nature of all natural disasters while recalling one of them, “In only thirty seconds, a tornado had flattened a whole neighborhood changing many lives forever” (as cited in Kolberg, 2005, p. 6).
Even though people may know something about natural disasters, this is not enough to survive when a disaster outbreaks. Admittedly, people cannot prevent natural disasters.
However, they can manage to survive if they have specific plans and strategies, if they are trained and prepared. Therefore, each family member should be prepared and should know what exactly to do as this will help each family cope with the aftermaths of the disaster.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it is necessary to note that being prepared to react can be crucial when it comes to natural disasters. Having a particular plan and being trained to follow the plan will help many people survive and support others.
Of course, the US government as well as each community and even each family should develop certain strategies to be used in case of a natural disaster. People should take specific courses to be physically and mentally ready to react.
Tornados are common for some of the US states and it is but natural that people should be aware of the ways to survive during these disasters. Besides, a variety of natural disasters are becoming more common in all parts of the planet. Therefore, it is not time to think it can never happen to you.
It is time to ask yourself if you and your close ones are ready to react.
