Introduction

Motivation entails the desires, needs, and wants that drive people to achieve certain goals. At work, motivation is essential as it reduces the rate of absenteeism, promotes worker retention by reducing staff turnover, improves the performance of workers, and promotes quality services. In the Bible, God encourages people to adopt motivation through assurance. He assures everyone that he is with them and that they should abstain from fear and adopt strength. This paper focuses on how the Bible encourages motivation in the workplace through Genesis 2:15 verse.

Discussion

The chosen Bible verse in this discussion is Genesis 2:15. It states, “The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it” (Bibleref, 2022, p. 67). Motivation is a potent energy that energizes workers, causing them to put more effort into the various activities they are involved in. Through formulating and completing goals, motivation in the workplace is boosted by clear expectations, recognition, feedback, and supportive management. Many assume that work results from the fall because they need a fundamental theology (Van Seters, 2021). However, from the very beginning, God created humans to function. Therefore, it encourages each individual to provide their best effort at work.

Consequently, the Bible verse demonstrates that in an ideal world, man would still be able to work since it happened before the fall and the advent of human sin. Working is a blessing from God, not a sin. However, the decrease may have impacted how people feel about our jobs. Sin has tarnished our perception of work (Van Seters, 2021). Therefore, the objective is to build a world where individuals can live and prosper without working if work is seen as a scourge. However, work serves more purposes than just giving people access to clothing, food, and shelter.

Conclusion

In conclusion, motivation entails the zeal to work and achieve various set goals. God created humans and placed them in the Garden of Eden. This placement followed the creation of everything in the garden. According to the Genesis scripture, working is a blessing rather than a punishment. Therefore, the verse encourages every person to delight in the roles they possess as it has been validated by God.
