Introduction
Health promotion and disease protection are the major concerns these days as numerous layers of populations are exposed to contracting miscellaneous illnesses. Considering the importance of boosting the level of public well-being, it is vital to promote strategies and distribute self-help information (Holt & Wylie, 2018). These strategies can be called primary prevention activities, which presume to raise awareness about leading a healthy lifestyle and being self-disciplined to sustain the sound condition.
Epidemiological Rationale
The shift of the seasons signifies lowered immunity, which takes a toll on large groups. What is more, the pandemic still exists in the world, meaning that people should protect themselves more thoroughly. Various personal, social, environmental, and other factors impact well-being, making one vulnerable (McKinnon, 2021). The concept of wholesomeness presupposes that feeling healthy is not solely about being in this condition, but rather about sustaining it by different prophylactic means (Woodall et al., 2020). Hence, the programs existing on state, local, or community levels should promote activities aimed at increasing the immunity level.
Nursing Diagnosis
Based on the fact that people only take care of their condition when they get sick, the diagnosis is a knowledge deficit about primary health prevention strategies. There is a range of possibilities under the identified problem, which incorporate the elaboration of health-targeted prophylactic activities.
Readiness for Learning
Nurses are required to be constantly aware of the ever-changing environment and be able to adjust to new conditions. Hence, they need to be ready to learn further information quickly and teach their colleagues, patients, and the population in general. It especially concerns transferring knowledge to adults who disregard their state for their busy lifestyle. As a result, they should be informed and further be able to pass on this information to their children.
Goal
The major goal of this community teaching plan is to educate the population on primary health prevention activities and raise their awareness of health promotion’s importance.
Evaluation of the Goal
The planned goal will be achieved when the chosen population participates in the survey 14 days after the training. If positive changes in the perception of health prevention strategies are identified, people increase the level of their awareness.
Objectives
- Increasing understanding of primary prevention strategies and their vitality.
- Introducing the ways of incorporating healthy lifestyle habits and quitting the bad ones.
- Raising consciousness regarding the major factors affecting lowered immunity.
Evaluation of Objectives
- The adults will name at least five prevention strategies for improving their health.
- They will be able to evaluate the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.
- They will discuss at least five options for introducing healthy habits into their life.
Barriers
Potential barriers include different perceptions of health and language peculiarities. The first obstacle can be overcome by asking the audience about the key components of health, whereas the second one is easy to get over by using simple constructions in English.
Conclusion
The presentation of the topic will be conducted in the form of training, where the chosen audience will learn new information and discuss it. The core intention of this teaching session is to deepen their understanding of health promotion and ensure the participants take measures to prevent diseases (Woodall et al., 2020). The use of creative elements such as interactive posters will facilitate communication and encourage individuals to discuss relevant questions.
