For this lab #2 Assignment you will be generating a Word or pdf document. You all should have your cell phone microscopes by now and using them should help you complete this assignment. If you did not receive the cell phone microscope you can still find these organisms.
There are 13 major eukaryotic phyla/ groups listed below. You can have up to two pictures of Arthropoda and Chordata. This means you can make two observations within these particular groups. This assignment is designed to help make you think, as well as encourage you to explore the world around you. To receive full credit on this project you will need to take at least 10 pictures of the phyla listed below.
The list of phyla/ groups are as follows: Cnidaria, Echinodermata, Platyhelminthes, Rotifera, Mollusca, Annelida, Nematoda, Arthropoda, Chordata, Byrophyta, Ferns, Gymnosperms, and Angiosperms.
After you take your pictures, copy each one onto a single word file, clearly label each picture to include the type of organism and the phylum or group in which it is placed, and upload the document in the dropbox provided. If you have a smart phone the iNaturalist app is awesome for identifications. View this like a taxonomic ‘egg hunt’.
I will assess each submission according to the following criteria:
>10 pictures = 100%
9 pictures = 90%
8 pictures = 80%
7 pictures = 70%
6 pictures = 60%
5 pictures = 50%
Each picture must be labeled clearly and must be your own. If you obtain a picture from the internet you will not receive credit on this assignment. It is extremely important to me that you do your own work.
