Hotel upgrade

The systems under scrutiny in course of this paper including the safety and security system, the communication, ventilation and air conditioning system, building management system, and food service equipment system.

The safety and security system

There are a number of changes that will take place in regards to the safety and security system in the course of the upgrade. These changes will be made to ensure that the upgrade serves its intended purpose effectively. In the upgrade, the safety and security system will be fashioned to become effective while ensuring that the important parties involved are catered for effectively.

There are a number of changes that will occur to the entire hotel management system as a result of the installation of the new system. Some of the physical and most prominent changes that will take place in regards to the safety and security system will be evident from the physical setting of the building (Anderson, and Anderson, 2010).

The sections of the building that will undergo changes in the safety and security system will include the basement level, the ground floor, and the first floor, up to the sixth floor. Security will be implemented from the entrance of the basement throughout the building. This will be done in conjunction with the lighting improvements. The enhancement of security in the basement area is largely dependent on the efficient installation of lights in the basement area.

Major changes will take place in the round stairs and also lifts for heavy carriage in the middle of the stairs. Lights will be placed on the stairs as well as the heavy carriage system and the elevator system (Anderson, and Anderson, 2010). The lights will also be connected to the backup system to ensure that these places are well lit all the time. The cameras and surveillance system installed will ensure that the security team in the building is aware of the activities going on at the basement area at all times.

The offices that will be placed in this level are HR office (Human Resources), housekeeping office separate from the laundry room and supply room, in opposite room. Due to the sensitivity of the information in this section, security will be of high standards (Bajpai, 2011).

The security will not only be focused on surveillance and lighting, but also on cybercrime and unauthorized access of information. The information that is stored in this area will be protected from unauthorized access. The security to be installed will also cover the network in and around the hotel.

This will ensure that the remote access of information within the hotel is restricted and under control at all times. Entertainment being provided by the hotel will also undergo scrutiny to ensure that there is nothing left to chance. The entertainment equipment such as TV, Game, and lockers will be checked to ensure that they comply with the expected international standards of safety and security. The security office is where center system for security staff will be put (Bajpai, 2011).

The communication, ventilation, and air conditioning system

In the upgrade, the new system will be designed to ensure that the clients receive the most effective services while ensuring there is an improved working environment for the rest of the hotel members.
