Many professionals often have to question their competency when they have to deal with certain cases. It always needs to be maintained and measured to perform the necessary tasks. It may be difficult for some, but one needs to be able to decide if he or she can handle the assessment of possible risks.

Numerous ethical issues in this particular case are related to competency. The very first problem that should be noted in this situation is that the agency should have assessed if I am competent enough for this job. A license of a counselor is required for such a job not to violate the standards of the state. Also, the authority has told that group therapy sessions can be practiced with every client that their employee wants to.

Such statements should not be used in this environment because it is not ethical. The biggest problem is that the agency has hired a former intimate partner of an employee as a supervisor. One needs to be informed about such information beforehand. I would have reported this right away because it has been proven that any relationship between a boss and a worker may cause serious problems in the workplace. It is especially problematic from the ethics point of view because they may treat each other differently, especially if they have personal issues. Such incidents could damage the reputation of an agency. Both parties should come to an agreement that they can work together, and their former relationships would not affect the work process.

Sexual abuse of children is an extremely hard topic, and it may be hard for some to handle. It may be surprising for some that numerous sexual offenses are committed by juveniles each year (Gill & Raphel, 2009). One needs to be morally prepared to deal with this subject matter. However, since I have previous experience with such cases I feel that I am capable of making an assessment. This particular case and the one where a young man has committed a sexual offense are quite different because the way juvenile and adult cases are assessed is not the same.

It is necessary to understand possible implications. It should not be forgotten that I have to deal with a female offender, and such incidents do not happen very often. However, there is a similarity between these cases that should be noted. Juvenile sex offenders are punished very harshly similarly to adult criminals because laws are very strict (Calleja, 2015). It is highly necessary to assess the risks because it is one of the core aspects of treatment.

This 16-year-old female admits what she has done but believes that there is nothing wrong with that. She needs to be educated on this topic because such behavior is unacceptable in our society. The fact that this female did this to her siblings is truly worrying because their psyches may be damaged, and it could lead to severe consequences. Further investigation should be conducted to see if there were any other offenses.

In conclusion, competency should always be considered when making an assessment. Every worker needs to be able to see if there any internal problems in the organization such as issues with supervision and violation of standards.

Competency should be measured to see if an individual has the necessary skills and knowledge.
