Introduction
When citizens have the chance to vote for their leader, it is a massive step toward a more representative government. Therefore, election laws must aid in upholding the will of the people while ensuring high voter turnout. During the pandemic, the COVID voting guidelines were crucial in achieving a high voter turnout. Thus, it suggests that voters are willing to participate in the electoral process but do not do so since the current guidelines do not adequately address their concerns.
Discussion
Despite differing views and ideas among legislators over COVID voting policies, the rules should be made permanent because they were outstanding and resulted in the largest voter turnout in American history. The voting process should be concerned with high voter turnout rather than trust since losing legislatures is responsible for the lack of trust among voters in the entire process.
Politicians with discerning views and opinions regarding the implemented COVID voting statutes are biased since the election outcome was not in their favor. As a result, they identify flaws in the process, resulting in a loss of confidence. Since they believe in politicians, supporters often feel their votes do not matter. They acquire negative opinions of the entire process due to allegations and concerns hence losing trust. Trust is vital in any election process since it ensures that the voters agree with the outcome of the election process, whether or not the outcome is in their favor (Lowi et al., 2018). Politicians can enhance voter confidence during the process by refraining from the negative utterances they utter when they lose. It will ensure that the voters agree with the outcome and will always turn out in large numbers since they view the process as credible.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the prior guidelines could not address the issue of low voter turnout, which the COVID policies have remedied. To maintain uniformity, the impacted politicians should develop better ways to enhance the new protocols and synchronize them throughout all states. It goes a long way toward securing a solid voter turnout and restoring faith in elections. Therefore, it is prudent for the losing party to recognize the efforts made to ensure a free, fair, and legitimate election process. Rather than the contrary, they should contribute to formulating strategies that support high voter turnout.
