The article “The effect of leader-member exchange, co-worker cooperation and locus of control on employee outcomes in Lebanese SMEs: perceptions of politics as a mediator” written by Jisr, Beydoun, and Mostapha, provides a study that identifies the connection between three variables, including locus of control, leader-member exchange, co-worker cooperation, and employee’s results such as job satisfaction and turnover intention. The research investigates the influence of political interception on the relationship between groups. Therefore, it is vital to determine the mediating role and connection between these outcomes.
The article provides conceptual background to the main variables of leader-member exchange and employees’ outcomes. Testing the hypothesis reveals that leader-member exchange positively relates to job satisfaction and negatively to turnover intention. Moreover, analyzing another theory, locus of control negatively correlated with job satisfaction, while positively with turnover intention. Talking about other parameters, co-worker cooperation has a positive connection to job satisfaction and negative turnover intention. The variables of leader-member exchange, job satisfaction, and turnover intention were interconnected due to political perceptions.
To obtain experimental results, 300 questionnaires were distributed to two commerce offices in Beirut and Tripoli. The study consisted of two stages: collecting the data and underwent pilot testing. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences software was implemented for data analysis. In obtaining results, preliminary analysis and investigation of the relationship between determinants and variables were made. The results suggest that political perceptions partially mediated the connection between leader-member exchange and turnover intention. In addition, the article illustrated the theoretical and managerial implications of the results. Further research should include additional components such as stress, performance, and organizational citizenship.
In conclusion, the study examines organizational politics of Eastern countries by identifying the relationship between determinants and variables. The results show that there is a positive connection between leader-member exchange and co-worker cooperation, while the link between leader-member exchange and turnover intention is negative.
