Modern technologies have a significant impact on human critical thinking. Due to the ubiquity of the Internet, people have access to all sources of information, libraries, research, etc. But at the same time, such a manifestation of modern technologies has certain disadvantages. Society faces a problem when it is difficult to control the contents of information, its quality, ways, and distribution methods.

The first drawback is that we get used to so much information. As soon as the Internet disappears, panic immediately sets in, especially if the information is needed and there is no Internet, then there is simply no plan for further action. Such a constant presence in the information field causes a strong dependence and can lead to an actual breakdown. Sometimes, it can reach the absurdity that a person cannot make the most straightforward decision without finding it on the Internet.

The next drawback is too much information flow, which can flood with valuable and dangerous data. Globalization of information space, its availability, and the intensive flow of new knowledge, the facts, views, and concepts created problems connected with reasonable use of information arriving on numerous communication channels from different sources (Akramova, 2017). A person who does not know about this danger, a person who has recently gained access to the Internet, for example, a teenager, may stumble upon information that is entirely unnecessary for them and maybe even dangerous.

One cannot deny modern technologies’ benefits in developing critical thinking, but one should not forget the abovementioned pitfalls. Modern technologies open access to knowledge to everyone, but at the same time, they do not provide adequate protection from content that can shock and leave a mark on life. Of course, the future of humanity is impossible without modern technologies, especially in education.
