The decision to stay behind and study for a philosophical examination, despite the friend’s request, is a discrete one. However, a person cannot serve two masters at the same time. This means, examination and entertainment do not embrace the same situational requirements; education requires a silence environment so that learning takes solace of examination worries, while in partying, liveliness would be the order of the day.

Before I arrived at the decision to study for the philosophical paper, my friend had to consider and weigh both the long-term and short-term importance of each option, prioritize from the most urgent to the least urgent. The argument had to take the shortest time possible in order for him to realize how valuable the decision was about the party (Inwagen 256). Taking too long would mean trying to gaze on the possible reason that Kane could put across to stop the poor perception on festivity matters. Regarding the importance, partying is a short term event and its impacts are usually negative to development, while education is an investment which positively affect the development and raises economy. Additionally, on passing examination, the number of friend would likely increase while the reverse would disregard the friendship that has existed for quite a long time (Reynolds 101).

In order to decide to, or not to accept the request to join a friend in a party on the eve of a philosophical paper entirely depends on personal perception, and understanding of the two situations, weighing the consequences of each decision and its impacts both short term and long term. Having been friends for quite along time, Kane obliged to make personal decision on a matter that is very sensitive and valuable towards his future career. Philosophical examinations require a lot of concentrations both during the study period and examination respectively; therefore he would better decline the offer to attend to party instead of accepting the offer by a word of mouth while psychologically it is a torture (Inwagen 266).

According to Kane, (429), the individual decisions in regard to matters relating to personal future should be embraced at times as it requires a wide understanding of the situational factors that may adversely affect or influence wrong decisions, for example stress, fatigue, nostalgia, and lack of self determination. As an adult, Kane would be much free when the perceived decision and/ or mission are fulfilled. After the long period of friendship, he was content that the friend would not take it negatively when Kane opted for studies following previous circumstances that would not enable the both of us to share during much more important occasions of which the friendship survived (Reynolds 111).

Personally, the decision of not attending to the party at the expense of the examination was a personal obligation following the hierarchal perception on the obligatory factor with regard to the prevailing situation. Between partying and examination, it is worth to attend to the examination requirement which only takes a few hours but have heavy impacts on the life thereafter. Education is the key to success. However, it pays to choose though it is of importance to decide on the long-term and short-term consequences of the choice. A good friend should be able to share both the best and worst situations; however, the decision to accept or reject the idea depends on personal decisions. Likewise, to the friend, the decision to or not to attend a party, pending a philosophical paper, is tricky. Thus, as an exam candidate, it is my responsibility to reject the invitation. This is not due to the fear that I would not perform well in the examination but for the sake of my future, it is candid to have a stand on the kind of life to live (Reynolds 117).

Under such situation, the friend may be at revelry while the examination paper holds life at stake, so it is within my instinct to reconsider not only the friendship but life and its components on my future. Decisions that would compromise a lifetime situation should be handled with a lot of consideration especially when it may not only compromise on short-term effects but also the lifelong perception. Friendship and education are two different entities; however, the decision to embrace a better and long lasting friendship entirely depends on the education level. Education adds more weight to personal traits compared to friendship that only lasts for the period that you are in good terms and partly during tribulation. In order to avoid wishful thoughts later in life, an individual should personally decide on what to do (Inwagen 267). Since I understand myself with respect to education, a philosophical paper requires a lot of concentration from all angles, having a party prior to the paper would hamper my desire to finish my course work on time. Maintaining a good friend is also dependent on the situations under which the duo operates. True friendship is characterized by the ability to share ideas though; critically not all the decisions shared lead to the same resolutions.

Frankfurt’s decision to attend the party instead of the philosophical paper that was scheduled for the next day was as a result of anxiety. Being content with the option of partying, he gained a lot of confident with determinations of being the best in the philosophical examinations come the next day despite not studying all through. After a considerable coverage of reading materials that he perused through the previous days, he would join the friends in the fancy party, which is also a necessary contributor to success as a result of the addiction.

The examination fever, which not only Frankfurt, but also the other scholars had at one time led to the option of partying experienced, a situation that warrant dance, beer and socializing with other friends from loud music, the sensitivity and examination responsiveness helped a great deal as the aftermath of the party would still rock till dawn (Kane 425). The friend who was aware that partying is my hobby would not forget to invite me for accompaniment to the fancy event; hardly do I decline such offers regardless of the repercussions. People possess different traits, the friendship between us was as a result of admitting the tribulations we caused each other in order to continue with the daily errands, and in fact a drink before the paper would do. In any house set-up, the individuals would have a good rapport, with the ability to analyze the situational factors that could either hinder or influence a choice and the corresponding actions that would create an understanding. Philosophical paper being the last paper in the examination, I opted for a drink on realizing that life would never be the same (Reynolds 131).

A feeling of relieve that scholars experience on finishing the long awaited tasks influenced the free decision, however, the institution party was just about and to my dismay, I was to drink hours to examination but seemingly I am already bankrupt. Basing my argument on challenges that people go through in order to achieve the lifetime goals; not all who drink fail, all depends on hard work. For the success and the need to retain the friendship between us, the decision to join friends in a party would strengthen the friendship other than declining the offer as a result of the mere simple philosophical paper that will last for less than a day. After all, I had been the best in this paper ever since the course commenced, apart from registering the best grade what else should I do? I am confident in receiving the best award in the subject. There is time for everything, and so let others not pretend to be revising for the philosophical paper while they are just wasting the precious time, the secret is not to be glued on books hours to examination, they better join the colleagues in a drinking spree. However, according to Kane ( 434), it has been proved beyond reasonable doubt that I have succeeded despite the chances and/ or the probability of failure; secondly, I shall have completed the course like any other person awaiting the certificate of recognition.

In the two cases, Kane is for the decision not to attend the fancy party, which by all means is a very superior action. He reiterated that, every action that an individual get involved in, greatly determines his or her distinctive future. However, with the reliability to nature, he perceives that every moment of physical possibility can only be determined by natural history for instance, the paper that waits is very crucial to his future and career hitherto, the nature laws. However, attending the party is not reliable to the inspection that can be obtained from the educational prosperity. According to Inwagen, (233) in confirmation as to why Kane made such a decision, the pleasure of survival results from the aptitude of people to have a choice which is a behavioral situation that any person posses since childhood. Kane affirms that only children should be restricted on what to do, once a grown up your opinion should be treated as your own view. Additionally, anybody who may be put under the situation that Kane was in would opt for studying for examinations other than the party unless otherwise, failure to take the correct action with a long term impact would haunt the individual for centuries given deep personal freedom.

Comparing the option of partying or not to, considering the time to the philosophical examination, it would be unethical to proceed to the party at the expense of examination which would be a lifetime opportunity. Taking time to read between the lines is appreciative unlike Frankfurt’s decision which shows a sign of fatigue and selflessness (Kane 429). Seemingly his career is different from the profession due to wishful thoughts; freedom should be regulated at times to shape Frankfurt and the likes.
