Introduction

Civilization, technology, and globalization have contributed immensely to the interaction and coexistence of individuals from different ethnicities worldwide. A few centuries ago, humanity was just discovering the existence of other cultures. Education and employment have a fair share of the influence on globalization.

Discussion

In current times, it is important to be aware of the differences and have the best attitude when interacting with people from different cultures. To gain more awareness and understanding of other cultures, a few suggestions are provided below. Asking other employees about their cultures and social order is a very efficient way of getting to know about other cultures. Conversing about your beliefs, which is the most natural strategy, would build firm relationships within working areas.

Technology and the internet are reliable when researching different cultures. Different social platforms efficiently explain and provide evidence about other societies that help individuals want to expand their cultural knowledge. Some traditions and religious ties have persisted through time, and overlooking them can cost an individual their employment (Veissière et al. 2020). In the United States, people are from many communities, and it is most important that employees respect each other. At other times, one can overlook the initiative mentioned above and observe their companions without judging their characters. Taking time to understand other people can be a long process, but it is very appropriate. Either of the discussed measures is reliable when discovering other cultures.

Conclusion

Ethnocentrism can bring about negative impacts on society. When learning about different cultures, their strengths and weaknesses become more evident. Gaining this knowledge may develop the wrong attitude towards people from these ethnicities. Ethnocentrism has been associated with discrimination and prejudice (Aslantaş, 2019). Awareness of other people’s faults can cultivate superiority in more informed and advanced societies. Discrimination within the work environment can reduce productivity, and victims can even resign from employment.
