Introduction
The world is composed of a wide variety of human cultures, which are attributed to the racial diversity, tribal groupings witnessed and the different geographical locations these diverse cultures interact within. In this scenario, the ways of living of the different groups vary in different areas like economic activities, social activities; language, mode of dressing as well as beliefs and traditions; which are adopted by these groups.
The organization of the societies also varies significantly; whereby the social interactions of the members of a certain society are guided by a set of frameworks or networks. As a result, the conservation of culture is to some extent very essential for the survival of certain groups in the widely varied human society (Moghaddam 43-46).
Discussion
The integration and association of these different cultures are further very important for the development of humankind. To achieve this optimum development, both the developed and the developing societies must share their cultural values. The implicit association test is a measure of the effect of the association between the representations of concepts in memory by different people. The implicit association test looks for various stimulus items, which will enhance the association and interaction between these people. The implicit association test will further help change the perception and influence on human behavior; and the interpretation of the past events about the human kind (Moghaddam 43-46).
Further, the implicit association test can help change the perception of the whites towards the blacks; where in this case achievements made by certain personalities in the black society can be highlighted to show the capabilities of the blacks. Based on the implicit association test, people can reduce the biasness based on racial differences. Since time memorial, its been known that blacks have been viewed as worthless and uncivilized people as compared to the whites.
In this case, the interaction between blacks and whites is negatively affected. Further, in this case, the bias against and also the undermining of Africans’ achievements reduce cultural interaction. The AIT has encouraged the cultural knowledge of different people and has also helped to change the perception of cultures of these other people (Moghaddam 43-46).
Further, Prejudice has been one of the biggest barriers to cultural integration; where in this case prejudice is the prejudgment of people’s beliefs, opinions, or judgment on any issue without the use of concrete facts. In human society, prejudice is very evident, especially between whites and blacks. Based on this discussion it’s not accurately possible to measure the level of prejudice; which is because most of the prejudgments accorded to different cultures are usually done indirectly.
In public speaking prejudice is usually practiced, whereby people from developed cultures may not pay enough concern on issues raised by people from less developed societies or lowly considered racial backgrounds. Within the international scene, prejudice is highly practiced whereby opinions raised by African or poor countries are not accorded maximum attention (Burnet 24-45).
The discriminations in job allocation in countries like the US are a clear indication of the measure of prejudice. Most of the blacks visiting the developed countries are usually handled using strict rules and restrictions as compared to the whites.
Further, the presentation of African countries in international organizations like the UN is not usually fair as compared to that of developed nations. In this case, the permanent members of the UN Security Council are usually drawn from developed countries where by the black countries are left in the dark. During international summits and conferences, opinions from less developed countries are not accorded maximum concern. An example of this scenario is the recent UN summit on global warming and climate change; where by opinions of third world countries were not given much attention (Burnet 24-45).
Cultural integration is also hindered by the strict immigration rules and regulations set by different countries. In this case the immigration into developed countries is actually a very exclusive exercise. The USCIS is the bureau of the United States homeland security, which performs administrative activities in giving passport and travel visa to immigrants. Due to the US security levels, the process is very discriminative thus locking out many foreigners who would like to visit the US (Bakanic 24-45).
Conclusion
Following the above discussion on the importance of cultural integration, it becomes impractical for any society to develop without associating with other cultures. Prejudice which is a major barrier in cultural integration should be highly discouraged in the society, as it has been seen to form a large aspect of the Western and developed societies cultures and perceptions.
