The media plays a vital role in providing analysis and opinions of some of the significant complicated issues to the public. Regularly, the media evolution has been fraught with problems and concerns. Some of the major accusations made against the media include poor quality, bias, and mind control. However, advancements in communication technologies have allowed people to access information quickly. In this case, the mass media can be categorized into television, print, radio, and internet news.

Earlier, information was mainly presented to the public through the printed press. The desire for self-governance and high literacy levels helped make Boston a preferable newspaper creation location. In 2003, newspaper advertisements earned $ 44.9 billion before recording a significant drop in 2014 to $16.4 (Hamborg et al., 2019). With the emergence of countless news alternatives, newspaper subscriptions have significantly dropped.

Radio and Television

The introduction and advancement of radio news increased after the realization that the media ensured personal interaction with the public. The use of radio entered in the 1920s with various sponsored radio news and dramas (Hamborg et al., 2019). Although the use of the radio faded with the introduction of televisions in 1951 by Edward R. Murrow, it remained helpful in listening to educational programs, music, and sports broadcasting. The Internet Media

The internet has enabled media consumers to access all necessary information with a click of a button. The cable introduction in the 1980s, alongside the general extension of the internet in the 2000s, has led to increased options for media users (Hamborg et al., 2019). The internet has created room for communication with the intended person by avoiding unnecessary intermediaries of journalists. Internet use has also helped reduce information transformation delays before reaching the receiver.

Conclusion

The changes in media format have led to less accurate and more biased means by providing an accessible platform where people can air their opinions instead of facts. The use of social media has created undesirable competition where users consider being first in communication to be more profitable than being right. Due to the increased spread of contradicting narratives in social media, people need a reliable source of information.
