Provide a summary of each reading:These summaries can be short, but they should be substantive. Each summary must correctly identify the main argument, and demonstrate comprehension of the text.
Provide analysis of one of the readings:Analysis is an original insight or idea about a text. It must be unique, in that analysis is not simply repeating what the text already says, but providing a new idea or question about what is presented.Don’t worry if you struggle with this initially as we will workshop these skills more. And when in doubt, simply ask a question of the text and try to answer it as best you can.
For the analysis please provide a conceptual question for the analysis.

Draft assignment:
Write your Health Science evaluation essay.
What is an evaluation?
Evaluation essays are, in essence, reviews. They pass judgment on whether something is good or bad, better or worse than something comparable, and how so.
For Health Science, write an essay that evaluates a health-related service, app, or place (for example, a healthy food delivery service, an app to track exercise, or your local gym).
Use 3-5 criteria to develop the evaluation.
Judge how the service, app, or place meets that criteria.
Offer evidence to support that judgment. The evaluation essay gives a writer more practice with the concept of the “I” as researcher, as well as gives the opportunity to gain experience conducting field research. Because this evaluation essay requires that the writer take and incorporate three relevant photographs, it also encourages the communication theory of multimodality (the use of media to create a text). Additionally, this essay continues to give the student writer an opportunity to further practice the recursive writing process (planning, drafting, revising, etc.) and gain a better understanding of the overall basic essay format (introduction, body paragraphs, conclusion) and essay development.
Finally, consider the value of crafting evaluations in the workplace. For example, employees are often asked to complete self-evaluations as part of completing a performance review.
DRAFT IS ATTCHMENT
Professors response on draft:
Denise, here are my reflections and recommendations:
The draft’s format is not in full MLA style. Visit module unit 1.3 to learn more about the essay formatting. Double-space all essays, provide the correct heading on page one (top-left with all appropriate elements), and provide the correct headers in top-right of every page.
Make sure that the essay meets the 750 word minimum per the instructions.
Friendly reminder to all students: Don’t use “you” or “your” (e.g., second person) or contractions (e.g., can’t… use cannot) unless you’re quoting someone else using those words.
Intro: It’s good. I really like the angle you’ve taken. Your hook and thesis are solid.
Body Paragraphs: Great examples with supporting details. Some of it was quite poetic. Friendly reminder: Narrative essays require more sensory details in your body paragraphs. Evoke the human senses via sensory details such as “I could taste success although it seemed nowhere in sight” or “I felt determination creep into my soul.”
Conclusion: I really like it. It brings effective closing to your previously presented ideas and viewpoints.
Friendly reminder: Make sure that the essay was not generated using AI tools. Even if a student opts to accept all recommended changes in an AI app, it will still generate a plagiarism report that I can review.
You have the potential to be a great writer. I can’t wait to read more.

Article:
Glamour magazine has set off somewhat of an Internet phenomenon with a small photo it ran on page 194 of its September 2009 issue. It’s a nearly nude image of model Lizzi Miller sitting on a bench with a great big smile on her face. As photos go, it’s no more than PG. Certainly other photos in the magazine, either editorial or advertising, showed more skin. So why is this photo garnering so much attention? Ms. Miller has a small belly pooch. Glamour Editor-In-Chief Cindi Leive writes on her blog:It’s a photo that measures all of three by three inches in our September issue, but the letters about it started to flood my inbox literally the day Glamour hit newsstands. (As editor-in-chief, I pay attention to this stuff!) “I am gasping with delight …I love the woman on p 194!” said one…then another, and another, andanotherandanotherandanother. So…who is she? And what on earth is so special about her? Here’s the deal: The picture wasn’t of a celebrity. It wasn’t of a supermodel. It was of a woman sitting in her underwear with a smile on her face and a belly that looks…wait for it…normal. The photo goes with a story by Akiba Solomon on women feeling comfortable in their own skinLinks to an external site.. The photo has no caption, no mention of who the model is, no mention of the fact she wears a size 12/14 and weighs 180 pounds. The response to this small photo – it’s not a cover photo, not promoed anywhere in the magazine – has been big. There have been at least 770 comments added to Editor Leive’s blog postLinks to an external site. about the photo, not to mention the e-mails. Many of the comments are laudatory. One woman called it “the most amazing photograph I’ve ever seen in any women’s magazine,” while another wrote, “Thank you Lizzi, for showing us your beauty and confidence, and giving woman a chance to hopefully recognize a little of their own also.”Miller loves the reaction she’s had to the photo:“When I was young I really struggled with my body and how it looked because I didn’t understand why my friends were so effortlessly skinny. As I got older I realized that everyone’s body is different and not everyone is skinny naturally–me included! I learned to love my body for how it is, every curve of it. I used to be so self-conscious in a bikini because my stomach wasn’t perfectly defined. But everyone has different body shapes! And it’s not all about the physical! If you walk on the beach in your bikini with confidence and you feel sexy, people will see you that way too.”Not everyone loved the photo and what it stood for, however. One commenter wrote, “I must say I have to agree that the normalization of obesity is a disturbing trend today.”Another commented,“We have enough problems with obesity in the US and don’t need your magazine promoting anymore of it. Shame on Glamour for thinking this was sexy!”More interesting was the criticism of Glamour for using an image like the one of Miller as a publicity stunt:[W]hile I do give Glamour a big thank you for showing us Lizzi at all, it was to create temporary buzz and to give themselves a pat on the back for “doing the right thing” for America’s women and girls, but when it comes down to dollars and cents they aren’t going to change a thing. Not being a cynic here…just a realist. Take care. I wish it could be different too.Student journalist Rebecca Koons, writing in University of Iowa’s Daily Iowan, argues a similar position:The only problem is, this type of positive attitude toward accepting and being oneself is not marketed nearly as much as it should be. We do have publications such as Self that are taking things in a healthier direction — aside from that whole Kelly Clarkson debacle.Links to an external site. One can only hope that Glamour and others will begin to follow suit. While a total upheaval of beauty and fashion may never happen, one can only hope that baby steps like these will only help women find solace in embracing what they were born with.Of course, none of this addresses the issue that Lizzi Miller at size 12/14 is hardly a plus size, though she is considered a plus size model. Even when there were magazines such as Graceand Mode targeted at size 12 women and larger, there were charges that only “skinny” plus-size models need apply.Since the photo and article were published in Glamour, model Lizzie Miller’s career has taken off. In this interview with journalist Lydia Slater of London’s Daily MailLinks to an external site. Miller says that she initially felt embarrassed when the photo was published because it showed her stretch marks and a tummy roll:“I said to myself: ‘OK, It’s not the best picture, but it’s not a big deal. And anyway, nobody’s going to see it.’”But more than a year after “the photo” was published, Miller had become a superstar of the modeling world and says she has become much more accepting of her own size.“We need to be celebrating skinny girls, curvy girls, tall girls, short girls, black girls, Asian girls and all nationalities,” Miller said. “I think that would make women feel a lot better about themselves. We have a long way to go until a girl who’s curvy can be in a magazine without a lot of attention being drawn to her.”Instructions
Please respond to the following questions. Please number your responses and do not re-write the questions. How did you initially react to this “unconventional” photo of a model showing a belly pooch? Did you think it is unattractive, a great realistic image, or no big deal? Why do you think you have this instinctive reaction?
Look at the photo. What makes it different from the typical photo in fashion/beauty/lifestyle magazines for women?
How does Miller describe her feelings about the photo? What did it do for her career? How did Glamour’s readers react to the story? What do critics of the photo have to say?
What do you think about the photo? Why do you think the photo drew such strong reactions? Is it important for fashion magazines to publish photos of models of different sizes? Will plus sized models find a place in fashion spreads that aren’t devoted to “curvy” models?
Advertising tells women that what’s most important is how they look, and ads surround us with the image of ideal female beauty. However, this flawlessness cannot be achieved. It’s a look that’s been created through airbrushing, cosmetics, and computer retouching. How do you think this trend of ads depicting ideal beauty impact women in society?

Week 3
Discuss Documenting Your Skills and Accomplishments
The following scenario is based on real-life current events.
Tara was frustrated, angry, and scared. She had just been notified via Zoom that she had been laid off.
Two years earlier, after graduating at the top of her class and earning a degree in software programming, she was hired by one of the largest social media technology companies in the world as a product developer. Tara was so excited to be starting her dream career in an organization with virtually endless opportunities for growth. In addition, her starting salary was in the six-figure range (over $100,000), and she had even gotten a signing bonus due to pandemic-related growth in the use of social media as people stayed home more.
But now as the pandemic was finally drawing to an end, her company’s growth had slowed considerably. People were going back to work and spending more time outdoors. As a result, they were spending less time on their devices, and this meant trouble for Tara’s company. Her company had hired far more people than it needed, and that meant layoffs.
When Tara got the message that she needed to attend an important meeting, she thought it might be a company-wide announcement of future layoffs or possibly a voluntary early retirement plan. Instead, it was a one-on-one meeting with a representative from human resources telling her that her employment had been terminated. She would be provided only a few weeks of severance pay because she’d been with the company for only a short time, and she was required to return her company-issued laptop and smartphone. Furthermore, her company email address and access to the company’s networks had already been disabled.
Unfortunately, Tara had been keeping all the evidence of her accomplishments, including the many projects she had worked on, on the company’s internal servers. Now, she no longer had access to any of it.
How will Tara be able to show her skills to potential employers without access to these important documents?
In your initial post, please answer the following questions.
What should Tara have done differently?
Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation to Tara? If so, what did you do?
How do you document your skills and accomplishments? How do you store them for safe keeping?

Ask a few others to look at it and consider their reactions too. Analyze the methods it uses to persuade. How do the advertisement and your reactions relate to social psychology?
Attitude change: Identify an attitude you have now that you used to view differently. Describe your attitudes at both times. The attitude can be anything from big-picture attitudes like the nature of justice, to political attitudes like racial tensions, to everyday attitudes like a preference for one product over another. Consider the ways attitudes are defined; what type of attitude was, and is, this attitude for you? Describe your process of attitude change using social
psychology concepts.

Subjective: What details did the patient provide regarding their chief complaint

Subjective: What details did the patient provide regarding their chief complaint and symptomology to derive your differential diagnosis? What is the duration and severity of their symptoms? How are their symptoms impacting their functioning in life?
Objective: What observations did you make during the psychiatric assessment?
Assessment: Discuss their mental status examination results. What were your differential diagnoses? Provide a minimum of three possible diagnoses and why you chose them. List them from highest priority to lowest priority. What was your primary diagnosis and why? Describe how your primary diagnosis aligns with DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and supported by the patient’s symptoms.
Plan: In your video, describe your treatment plan using clinical practice guidelines supported by evidence-based practice. Include a discussion on your chosen FDA-approved psychopharmacologic agents and include alternative treatments available and supported by valid research. All treatment choices must have a discussion of your rationale for the choice supported by valid research. What were your follow-up plan and parameters? What referrals would you make or recommend as a result of this treatment session?
In your written plan include all the above as well as include one social determinant of health according to the HealthyPeople 2030 (you will need to research) as applied to this case in the realm of psychiatry and mental health. As a future advanced provider, what are one health promotion activity and one patient education consideration for this patient for improving health disparities and inequities in the realm of psychiatry and mental health? Demonstrate your critical thinking.
Reflection notes: What would you do differently with this patient if you could conduct the session again? If you are able to follow up with your patient, explain whether these interventions were successful and why or why not. If you were not able to conduct a follow up, discuss what your next intervention would be.
I only need information on diagnostic impression, Reflections, case formulation and treatment plan

Paper 2 (Reporting Information: I-Search)
What is the assignment? For your second paper, you will be doing an I-Search project. An
I-Search paper is a bit like a traditional research paper—you will need to get online to find information about your topic. What makes it different is that you will discuss your findings in a narrative form (instead of trying to imitate the objective authoritative tone and style of an expert in a given field).
What should I write about? You may write about anything you’d like (provided that your
paper does not become a how-to essay for something illegal ). My main suggestion would
be to focus on a subject that genuinely interests you. Doing so will make research valuable
and not just a burden for a school assignment.
How do I write an I-search paper? Review the materials in the course module labeled
“Reporting Information: I-search Paper.” Look esp. at the various examples. As I mentioned
above, you will be writing a narrative, which should allow you to talk candidly about your
research instead of trying to impersonate a professor.
Your paper should probably have three parts:
 a first section in which you discuss how you got interested in your topic;
 a second section recounting your research (i.e., where you looked for information, your
judgment about the quality of the material you found, and what you learned;
 a third section in which you sum up what you’ve learned and discuss avenues for more
research (if applicable).
How long should my paper be? Your final draft should be about 4 typed, double-spaced
pages (about 900-1,100 words). Use a reasonable font.
How many sources do I need to use? You need to use at least three (3) quality (i.e.,
reliable) sources.

I’ll send you the assignment I did in the chat as well my professor’s feedback.
