For this assignment, you are required to produce a video resume to persuade a potential employer that you are the best candidate for the position. It is important to establish your viewpoint and purpose for the video and rationalize why you are the best candidate throughout the video.

Utilize the various tips for effective video resumes found in the unit readings as you create the video. General Guidelines – All assignments are expected to be 2-3 pages typed and double-spaced using a 12-point font. Include a single-spaced heading with Full Name, Date, Course Title, and Course Assignment. Submit the paper through the Assignment link on WebCampus. Points will be deducted for late assignments. Assignments are expected to be original and authentic. When citing factual evidence and/or paraphrasing factual material, the facts must be cited within text using APA format to cite references. Also include a Works Cited page at the end of the paper. Wikipedia will not be accepted as a reliable source and the paper will be returned.
Topic Choices (Select one of the bulleted topics to explore.):
How do such topics as: health care, nutrition, mental health, food security, poverty, urban planning, or other global issue connect to the UN Sustainable Development Agenda and goals? Choose between one and three of these topics to further explore in your paper. These should be different than your Critical Reaction Paper One. You may expand on a topic you began on the discussion board, but should not repeat the same thoughts without supporting your statements with research. You may also use the questions that were noted in the syllabus as guiding questions.
Recalling Culture/culture in UNIV 2001, you might consider how material landscapes and cultural practices (sustainability and human rights) are collectively a part of “petrocultures”—in other words, how are our “Culture” & “culture” shaped by the material reality of petroleum-based energy distribution and extraction that itself changes our material environment?
Peace Studies is addressed by several authors and documentaries in UNIV 2002. How does Peace Studies offer a way of reading or understanding sustainability and human rights?
How do Peace Studies, Human Rights, and/or sustainability relate to your intended major? It may seem that Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, or Nursing are practical and unrelated areas of study (in comparison to History, Political Science, or Literature that more overtly address such topics); however, the CORE courses have shown all these disciplines as more related than we might think. How do the challenges of UNIV 2002 for these topics figure in your own future and your studies, whether overt or implicit? They may shape your goals, but just as importantly, how will your life after your studies indirectly contribute (or hinder) peace, rights, and sustainability?
You may use the resources from our units and videos and an outside resource as well to connect. You must use at least two references, at least one from the readings and/or videos, and the additional one can be outside if you wish. This is mostly a reaction paper to the information you present in your argument, therefore, if you use personal examples/experiences, be detailed and share the specifics to support your statements.
Guidelines for the Paper
Interpretation – This is, the introduction to your paper. You will explain your topic and introduce your thesis and topic in one or two paragraphs.
Analysis and Presentation of your Argument – This will be the largest section of your paper. You will give a full analysis of the situation and present a strong argument about it. You may use your reading as a reference if appropriate, but mostly your personal interpretation is the key for this paper. You may present both sides of the argument if you wish.
Evaluation – The “Evaluation” section provides an opportunity to critically examine the facts and/or arguments used. Evaluate the situation, examples. You also can present the other side of the argument if you choose and tell which side you believe would be strongest. You may use outside sources, (they do not have to be scholarly or peer reviewed for these reaction papers) remembering you must give citations and a reference or Works Cited list in MLA.
Summarize – Give a Final Summary of your thoughts. This section will be a couple of paragraphs.

The type of protein you choose to eat can have an impact on the environment as w

The type of protein you choose to eat can have an impact on the environment as well as your personal health. Animals are less efficient at converting energy they consume via grazing and feedlots into protein calories for humans than plants such as soy and legumes. In particular, beef and lamb require large amounts of land and freshwater. About three-quarters of agricultural land around the world is used to raise livestock, whereas meat and dairy provide only 1/3rd of protein consumed by humans. Cattle also produce large amounts of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) estimates that approximately 18% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are produced by livestock, mostly in the forms of methane and nitrous oxide, and mostly produced by cattle, sheep, and goats. Remember that cheese and dairy are also animal-based protein sources. Clearing land for grazing and grain production to feed animals also takes an environmental toll.
On the other hand, as your textbook points out (pg. 163-164), animal protein provides a complete assortment of all amino acids, the building blocks used to form protein. The quality of plant-based proteins varies from high quality (soy and legumes) to less complete profiles. Eating a wide variety of vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes (including lentils and soy products) will guarantee adequate intake of all amino acids, including the essential ones and a balanced protein profile in your diet.
Take a look at Tables 1 and 2 of Discussion #2 PowerPoint (available in Module 6 on Proteins and Amino Acids) to see which food choices are more “climate efficient” than others. Read the short article, “Shining the Light on Plant Proteins.” Then respond to these questions:
1. In the material presented, list at least one fact you read that made you think more seriously about eating less meat and explain why you think so. If you weren’t convinced, and you plan to keep your diet as it is, provide two reasons for keeping your current diet. (6 points)
2. Do you think Americans would be willing to reduce the amount of animal-based proteins in their diet, knowing the impact they have on climate change? Suggest two ways people can reduce animal proteins in their diet. (6 points)
3. What might make a diet that’s lower in animal proteins more appealing to you or your friends and family who may enjoy large amounts of meat? State at least one strategy to accomplish this. (4 points)
4. Name a situation you may encounter where eating a meatless meal could present barriers and suggest a solution for it. (4 points)
Please use in-text citations to support your viewpoint to receive credit.

When you are done posting your response, reply to at least one classmate in no fewer than 75 words. Is the rebuttal convincing? What questions do you have about it?
