My personal philosophy of teaching is a mix of Humanism, Progressivism, and Real

My personal philosophy of teaching is a mix of Humanism, Progressivism, and Realism.
Humanism- Education must provide for learner autonomy and respect their dignity. It must also help individuals achieve self-actualization by developing their full potential.
Progressivism- The role of learners is to make choices about what is important, and the role of teachers is to facilitate their learning.
Realism- Education is designed to help learners understand the natural laws that regulate all of nature.
I believe a solid foundation of knowledge in anatomy and pathophysiology is imperative to caring for a patient in crisis and for critical thinking in those situation. I believe fostering an environment for students to build on their critical thinking skills is imperative in nursing school. I also believe critical thinking means sometimes arriving at the wrong conclusion and as teachers we have to help facilitate that and encourage students with positivity to help build their self esteem.
My curricula would be heavily centered in exposure. Case studies and group discussions and simulations are all great for this and will help actualize my teaching style.

What does public service mean to you? Why do you believe service is important? *
Public service means dedicating my skills and efforts to improve the lives of others and enhance the well-being of our community. It involves a commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to the needs of the public. Service is important because it fosters trust and cooperation between the government and its citizens. It ensures that resources are allocated fairly and that every individual has the opportunity to thrive. My experience as a Junior Performance Analyst at the Office of Management and Budget has shown me the impact of effective public service in driving positive change and improving agency performance
What does community mean to you? How has community shaped your personal and/or professional life? *Community means a network of support, shared values, and collective efforts towards common goals. It provides a sense of belonging and identity, and it is where we find mutual support and encouragement. Community has shaped my life by offering opportunities for collaboration and personal growth. Professionally, my roles as a Social Media Manager and Co-producer for IamCX and the Dialogue 340 podcast have allowed me to engage with the community, foster positive relationships, and create content that resonates with and benefits our audience. Community involvement has taught me the importance of empathy, communication, and working together to achieve shared success.
Please share an experience when you faced a challenge or setback. What impact did it have on you in the moment? What did you learn from it? *
During my tenure as a Junior Performance Analyst at the Office of Management and Budget, I encountered the challenge of consolidating performance data from multiple agencies with different reporting standards. The task was overwhelming and required meticulous attention to detail. In the moment, I felt stressed and pressured to deliver accurate results. However, this experience taught me the value of perseverance, teamwork, and effective communication. By collaborating with colleagues and seeking their insights, I was able to streamline the process and improve data accuracy. This challenge reinforced the importance of adaptability, problem-solving, and continuous learning in overcoming obstacles and achieving goals.

The Biden-Harris Administration’s vision for the country, emphasizing unity, inclusivity,
and progress, deeply resonates with me. This alignment has influenced my decision to
apply for the White House Internship Program. Their commitment to addressing systemic
inequalities, fostering economic growth, and promoting social justice aligns perfectly
with my personal values and professional goals. As a native of the U.S. Virgin Islands, I
bring a unique perspective to the table. I understand the unique challenges and
opportunities that small island communities face. Our islands, though small, are rich in
culture and significance. This administration’s focus on diversity and inclusion is vital for
communities like mine, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. This vision
inspires me to contribute my skills and energy to further these transformative goals.
As a Junior Performance Analyst at the Office of Management and Budget, I have seen
how inclusive policies can positively impact agency performance and community
engagement. Leading performance evaluations and strategic initiatives for various
government agencies have taught me the importance of equitable resource distribution
and the need for policies that support all citizens, especially those from marginalized
communities. The Biden-Harris Administration’s dedication to equity and justice drives
my desire to join the White House Internship Program.
My work as a Social Media Manager and Co-producer for IamCX and the Dialogue 340
podcast has further reinforced the importance of diversity and inclusion. Engaging with
diverse audiences and amplifying often underrepresented voices has shown me the power
of inclusive storytelling to foster understanding and unity. The administration’s
commitment to uplifting diverse perspectives and ensuring that every American has a seat
at the table motivates me to contribute to this mission at the highest level of government.
The administration’s priorities, such as tackling climate change, rebuilding the economy,
and advancing racial equity, are not just issues I am deeply passionate about. They are
moral imperatives that reflect a commitment to creating a better, fairer, and more
sustainable future for all. The opportunity to support these initiatives within the White
House is a unique and compelling prospect for me. President Biden’s focus on healing
the nation and restoring faith in government through transparency and accountability is
particularly significant to me. My academic background in communications and my
professional experience in performance analysis have equipped me with the skills to
contribute effectively to these goals. I am prepared and eager to bring my expertise in
strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and performance metrics to the
White House, helping advance the administration’s vision and priorities.
In conclusion, the Biden-Harris Administration’s vision for a more inclusive, just, and
prosperous America has inspired me to apply for the White House Internship Program. I
am driven by the opportunity to support an administration that values diversity, promotes
equity, and works tirelessly to ensure that every American has the chance to thrive.
Joining the White House team would be an honor and a significant step in my
commitment to public service and social change.

This is week 3 post.
The UN GoalsHow Money and Power May Have Influenced the SDG Poverty-Reduction Goals in Questionable WaysIn the framework of the SDGs, the eradication of extreme poverty by the year 2030 is planned. However, the process of developing these goals and striving to meet them can be swayed by money and power in a rather dubious manner. For example, the current definition of extreme poverty adopted by the World Bank is $2.15 per person per day, which does not necessarily depict the absolute living standards of many individuals. This definition was defined in 2017, and no changes have been made to it even after the shifting global economic conditions and the COVID-19 pandemic. The poverty rates and the number of people living in extreme poverty, as estimated by the World Bank, are also calculated using PPP adjustments, which also consider the economic and political bias of the countries and organizations involved. Also, power relations in politics and economics can shape the distribution of resources and funding that goes to poverty reduction programs. For instance, the lending policies and conditions of the World Bank may work in the interest of some countries or some economic sectors more than others, which can maintain inequity and mitigate the impact of poverty alleviation strategies
.Actions to Further SDG Goals
As a result, for SDGs advancement, the following actions can be taken by an individual. Call for a policy agenda to expand economic opportunities, social protection, and necessities among low-income people. Donations to similar causes that assist in poverty alleviation include Non-Governmental Organisations and Community Based Organisations. Promote the understanding of the SDGs and the complexities of poverty eradication by striving to learn more about them and inform others about them. You must make conscious decisions in your daily lives to ensure sustainable development, such as using public transport or a more environmentally friendly car, going for organic products, and buying from local and fair trade markets. Engage in international conferences, petitions, and other related activities that advocate for eradicating poverty and promoting sustainable development. As such, individuals can take the following actions to contribute to the fight against poverty and the realization of the SDGs.

Genetics should be viewed as an active dialogue between the organism and the environment. Patients often have risk factors for disease that are complemented by the environment. This can worsen the health of the patient. Inactivity can combine with poor eating habits to worsen the individual’s condition. These characteristics are related to the patient’s inability to deal with stress. Instead of breaking these patterns of behaviors, patients continue to reinforce stressors. Thus, diseases such as asthma and diabetes can be generational. A patient may reflect characteristics similar to those of other family members. A father with cardiovascular issues may see the same patterns in his children.
Parents pass on their reactions to triggers in the environment. The family system describes these reactions in detail. In a different environment, an individual can break the influence of family history. This can limit the propensity to disease and increase lifestyle choices that limit the effects of chronic diseases. Despite these advantages, patients often seek environments that seem familiar. Therefore, children often deal with stress from their parents similarly.
The development of these behaviors is nuanced. A patient may not recognize these changes until it is too late. Patients do not have total control over their biology, but a strong foundation of wellness can improve outcomes. The patient can reverse the effects of family history. Nevertheless, it is essential to understand how behavioral cues influence individual action. People are caught up with patterns of behavior, and these behaviors manifest uncontrollable impulses on the part of the individual. Patients can resist these impulses with sustained education.
Alspatch (2011) emphasizes that a patient’s health reflects multiple levels of parental influence on patients. The genetic makeup is expressed in a similar reaction to the environment. Claasen et al. (2010) indicate how patients share behaviors with their families. Wildin et al. (2021) describe how altering family history to emphasize wellness is possible. Nurses must be more active in encouraging patients to commit to a healthy lifestyle.
