On the other hand, qualitative assessment refers to using categorical or non-numeric values to manage risks (Whitman & Mattord, 2018). Benchmarking, baselining, and others are requested examples of qualitative risk management. When it comes to the annual rate of occurrence, one can either assign a specific value (quantitative approach) or enumerate possible risks and rate them using scales (qualitative strategy). This statement represents the most evident difference between the two risk management strategies under analysis.

As far as my opinion is concerned, I do not think that any of these approaches can be considered better or worse. I believe that their effectiveness depends on many factors, and it can be more suitable to rely on qualitative approaches in some cases, but quantitative strategies can be better in others. For example, an organization should use quantitative risk management when this business can deal with precise numerical values and figures. However, the given approach will be useless if it is impossible to generate numerical data. In this case, qualitative risk management strategies can produce suitable outcomes. The value obtained above is the energy that would be required if the heater was heating the liquid while it was not flowing. The flow of the water means that the amount of the liquid passing over the heating element at any particular time will be reduced. The choice of the heating element is made to ensure that the temperature of the liquid is always achieved. From the available heater models, the heater model H80 is chosen. This model supplies the power of 80kW and this power is the one that is closest to the value that has been obtained. The pump will ensure the flow of water at a particular flow rate and this will ensure that the heater raises the temperature of a reduced volume and hence the mass of the liquid.

Conclusion

The analysis of the heat requirements for the production process indicates that the heater model H80 is the most appropriate. This is because its power output will be able to raise the temperature of the liquid within the time requirements of the production process. It is also evident that the interrelationship between different sections of the process means that the analysis of a particular section should be done with reference being made to the design requirements of other sections.

Therefore, it is essential to conduct internal tests to ensure that additional security levels protect all valuable information. The primary advantage of the method is the protection of data from both cyberattacks and occasional employee mistakes, such as irresponsible password management (Moulder & Meers, 2021). However, pentesting internal security is associated with high risks of information leakage (Moulder & Meers, 2021). Thus, the company needs to ensure that the tester is competent and can prevent potential data breaches during testing.

The second type is an external tester, which is used to determine system vulnerabilities from outside the organizations security. It frequently refers to access from emails, websites, or other external assets (Moulder & Meers, 2021). While the potential damage from an external cyberattack is not crucial, hackers can exploit vulnerabilities in external security with greater ease. The upfront ACO model is an innovative model that aims to improve the quality of service and payment. The upfront payments received under the model involved investment in their care coordination infrastructure (CMS, n.d.). The purpose of this program was to enable small ACO to participate in the creation of general savings and prominent representatives (CMS, n.d.). Despite directly related to finances, this model mainly aims to improve quality rather than payment. Wasteaminute.com for Digital Distraction During Office Work

Initially one would think that the author  Ira Wagman  wanted to write about a website called Wasteaminute.com and how office workers use it as a way to escape boredom. But it turns out that she merely used this website as her take-off point in order to discuss the intrusion of digital technology into the workplace of the 21st century and that there is a major difference in how employer and employee view the use of such technology. For employers it is digital distraction while employees see it as an escape from boredom and respite from a numbing work that require employees to be chained to a desk.

Ira Wagman used the techniques available to a researcher en route to the creation of this article. She used a variety of academic sources as well as newspaper reports to show different viewpoints regarding the use of digital media in the workplace. Aside from her ability to cull data from books, journals, websites, and national dailies, she is also an authority in the said subject matter because she is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies in the School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.

She is also an accomplished author having penned a book entitled Log On, Goof Off, Look Up: Facebook and the Rhythms of Canadian Internet Use. This means two things; firstly, she knows how to process primary and secondary information  she is not only an expert in reading books and websites and lifting information from those sources but she also knows how to conduct research and gather first-hand data regarding the topic. Secondly, her book is proof that she knows what she is talking about because she already completed work on the study of how Canadian office workers use Facebook and other social network sites.

There is logic in her argument because even before the advent of digital media the problem with office boredom was already prevalent everywhere. It does not require a sociologist to understand how employees dread the thought of a weekend about to end and Monday morning sickness about to take effect. But in the 21st century the problem is exacerbated by the fact that a great amount of work is possible inside the limited confines of a cubicle. Everything can be completed in this claustrophobic environment. Multi-tasking is possible there such as writing emails, answering calls, use of fax machines, writing reports etc. This can make an employee feel that he or she is a prisoner unable to break the monotony of confinement.

There is more to Ira Wagmans thesis than just the lament of office workers regarding the need to use digital technology not just for work but also as a means for escape from their confined environment. They want to use it as an escape from boredom. Others even argue that using social network sites and digital media for entertainment should not always be seen as a negative but can be viewed as a tool that can help employees increase their productivity.

The author was quick to support this assertion by showing that there are already contemporary office settings wherein there is an attempt to mix both work and play, or better yet to use play in the service of work, to make work more enjoyable for its workers (Wagman, p.1). In other words if companies provide big screen TVs, gyms, game rooms etc., then why not extend this to the use of digital media technology? This is her primary question.

Wagman was also able to balance this suggestion with the counter-argument that office workers tend to abuse the use of technology and become unproductive in the work place. This is an unacceptable for employers at a time when shareholders dictate corporate policies according to Wagman. However, she also hinted that short-term profitability at any social cost is not healthy in the long run (Wagman, p.1). There is therefore a need to balance the need for control and freedom.

The company is under obligation to be profitable while at the same time it has to consider that what makes the organization profitable are not the computers and the machines but the personnel behind these gadgets and equipment. This issue has to be resolved in the earliest time possible because as technology develops at a radical pace surveillance and the creative means to stop work and get distracted with social networking sites and web-based games will collide head on.

Conclusion

It is easy to agree with Wagman because she presented a balanced view on the matter of freedom and control. Employers put up capital and they shoulder a great deal of risk and therefore they must be rewarded with a profitable organization made possible by hard-working employees. On the other hand office workers are not machines, they get tired and they need more than just coffee breaks to get them through the day.

Office workers are social beings that cannot handle an eight hour grind doing nothing but looking at spreadsheets and writing reports. There is a need to limit surveillance, increase the freedom of workers, while at the same time employees must also improve on self-discipline.

The arguments of Wagman were all well-crafted and readers will agree with most of what she said, however, the issue is far from resolved because there is no hard and fast rules regarding how to implement a universal policy on how companies should provide time and resources for employees to take time-off from work and use digital technology to escape boredom, to be distracted for a short period of time so that they can go back to their work recharged or rejuvenated. No one knows how it can be done correctly.

EChoupal: Session Justification and IT Projects Evaluation

Who are the key stakeholders in the ITCs initiative to implement the Coupal project? Briefly justify your claim by explaining whats at stake for them.

It can be argued that the major stakeholders in the implementation of the ITCs Coupal program are the rural farmers and the staff of the company. For a long time, the farmers and residents of the Dahod village have practiced farming as their main economic activity. The farmers engage in massive cultivation and production of soybeans, which is the dominant crop exported from India. When harvesting is completed, it is sold at the local markets commonly referred to as a couple. This culture has been practiced for decades by these rural communities. However, the efficiency of the coupled system of commerce had depreciated and farmers experienced a lot of challenges in conducting transactions in the village markets.

The farmers in Bhopal were faced with a myriad of challenges which included having to transport their products over long distances (30-50km) so as to reach the nearest mandi, waiting until an official from the government valued their produce before bidding could commence, and the process of weighing as well as transporting produce to the market was cumbersome for the farmers. Farmers also incurred a lot of losses during the weighing of their produce due to the crude equipment and scales used to measure the products. It is estimated that on an average day, more than a thousand farmers could be seen trying to get their products into the mandi. Once inside they were faced with other challenges, which are common in village markets such as theft and the perishable nature of their products. However, congestion in the market was the most significant impediment. The development of eChoupal by the staff of ITC helped to alleviate the suffering and losses incurred by farmers during the harvesting season. It also provided a channel through which information about the price of commodities, weather conditions, and access to credit could be communicated directly to the farmers in real-time.

On the other hand, the ITC Company was also significantly affected by the inefficiencies of the village markets. The company had established a good reputation and relationships with its farmers for more than 100 years in which it had been in existence. The challenges faced by the farmers continued to be felt along the supply chain, which adversely affected the performance of the ITC Company. Delays in the delivery of products to the market and transportation to the manufacturing plants significantly affected the revenues earned by the farmers and the organization. Late payments to farmers did not encourage increased production. The pricing of the product was another factor that affected the company and farmers at the market.

As a result, the International Business Division (IBD) of ITC was tasked with the responsibility of developing a solution to these challenges. The soybean and other products derived from it accounted for about 67% of the companys exports. This meant that the supply chain challenges significantly had an impact on the profit of the organization. The company conducted a study on the coupled system and also relied on the farmers experiences in the market. It is from this survey that the Coupal concept was conceived. The concept was built on the traditional structures of sharing information within the couple markets. However, this concept was improved to include the use of information technology systems such as computers.

The company was also keen to involve all the stakeholders in the development of the project. The organization had already established good relationships with the farmers who deliver their produce to the firm. The organization carried out a survey of the rural markets paying close attention to the challenges that the project would face on the ground. This enabled them to come up with solutions such as the use of solar-powered computers in areas not serviced by electricity. The company also made a critical review of the costs to be incurred and made sure that the project had enough funding.

It is argued that the most significant factor that contributed to the success of the eChoupal is its deep foundation on trust. The system was essentially a channel used to improve human interaction, which was the catalyst that influenced the local couples in the villages. Through these initiatives, the eChuopal has been successful.

For a project to be successful, it needs team-work and acceptance of diverse beliefs so as to implement the best practices for change. It is prudent that all stakeholders should be involved in the development and implementation of IT projects. However, stakeholders should ensure that they remain within their designated roles.

The success of a good IT project depends on various factors such as researching and planning for the project among others. This helps the team mandated with the task of developing the solution to establish the critical areas that need to be addressed, and also reveals other challenges that may be experienced in the course of implementing the project. The ITC Company was particularly successful in this area since it conducted various surveys of its supply chain system, and also sought the experience of the farmers from the rural chuopals. A comprehensive understanding of the problem helps the design team to identify the critical areas that need more attention.

The article also emphasizes that building strong relationships with the customers and suppliers of a business is essential for all organizations. During the development of new IT systems, information from external sources is critical in the identification of areas that need to be improved.
