(Microsoft 1).

Main body

Speech recognition program is a latest technological device that allows the executives of a company, or an individual to create, edit emails document or report using voice from anywhere in the world. Thus, many small businesses are using the speech recognition program. It should be noted that Microsoft speech recognition engine is gaining acceptance among businesses because it is three times faster than typing by hand on the computer and it offers 99% accuracy. Typically, a user can dictate on the different type of Microsoft office such as Microsoft word, Microsoft excels. In addition, the speech recognition software is also effective in the other application software such as WordPerfect, Corel and other application program. There are many speech recognition software packages available in the internet. Meanwhile, the Microsoft Speech Recognition Engine is one of the best speech programs that offers effective application program. (Microsoft).

To use the program, it is essential to install the program in the computer. A microphone is essential in order to benefit from the speech technology software.

Typically, many companies are benefiting from the application of the Microsoft Speech server system.

For example, many hospitals are being able to use Microsoft speech engine to lower cost especially from the transportation system.

In addition, several businesses are benefiting from the speech program because the speech program is three times faster than typing on the computer. Many executives are being able to able to dictate the memo of the company directive to the secretary from long distance. The computer will then provide all their saying in written form on the computer. Thus, it is effective to increase employee productivity as well as offering customers satisfaction.

Moreover, the executive can pass instruction to their subordinate quickly and effectively.

The other advantages of speech recognition program are that it offers different languages.

In addition, the Microsoft Speech recognition software provides adequate security on the message transmitted through voice. It should be noted that Microsoft speech server offers security, which is effective to defend the system from internal or outside threats. For example, there are many cases hacking of telephone during communication. Thus, with Microsoft speech recognition software. The security devices can be installed in order to prevent eavesdropping. (Microsoft 2).

Despite the advantages program by the Microsoft speech recognition program, it should be noted that that this program offers some disadvantages.

Some of the disadvantages are as follows:

First, it is essential to note that this program cannot recognise the voice of everybody. The program cannot identify the intonation of everybody or dialect of everybody. The way American pronounce words is difference from the way a non-English speaker from Africa will pronounce their English words and this may lead to some technical difficulty in making the software to recognize voices of every individual

In addition, many users have not yet understood how to install security devices in the program in order deter external intruder from the system. Typically, there is need to install security devices on the program in order to offer effective security procedure. Presently, many sophisticated software program can eave drop when transmitting message on the computer. Thus, small businesses should learn how to enhance adequate security for the program.

Conclusion

Speech and Voice Recognition

Voice recognition is the use of software and additional apparatus to capture voice-based commands from a user and transfer these to a computer. In recent years there had been an increase in the development of software and approaches to software design. Among the examples of such advances are witnessed in voice recognition software that is used to convert text to speech (Neustein, 2010). His type of software is widely used in call centers and other such facilities where automated responses may suffice.

Another use of this concept that has been widely explored through software is the use of a voice message for authentication. Speaker authentication or identification requires that the speaker record their voice while saying a keyword used for identification (Neustein, 2010). The computer system will analyze the voice pattern to confirm that the speaker is the same individual. This approach is very effective as a security measure and can be widely used to control access. An example of this software is the program Dictation 2004 4.4.1 which can be purchased at approx $49 from various sources online (freedownloadscenter). Since the software will most likely require the purchase of a microphone it is suggested that a microphone that is compatible with the plugs on conventional sound cards is selected.

Comparison of the Inaugural Speeches

Introduction

Nations from different parts of the globe have gone through certain stages before reaching their current state. The inhabitants of other countries have colonized the citizens in most of the nations because of their resources. The acts of colonization were accompanied by several negative impacts on the colonized countries. Among the serious impacts were wars.

Wars occurred in an attempt to attain freedom. The war led to financial and economic instability in the concerned countries. Presently, some countries have become economically stable while others are still striving to return to their previous states. The concerned countries have signed treaties amongst themselves while others have sought financial help from their neighbouring stable nations. This paper will give the comparison and contrast between the JFK inaugural address and the Truman doctrine speech.

Similarities between the two speeches

First, both speeches are talking about the same country. The JFK inaugural address is being directed to the new generation of the Americans. The person describes how the United States has been interrupted by wars. The person goes ahead to describe how the old generation has shed blood for their peace.

The speech describes the efforts that they will put in to ensure that peace and freedom is attained in the neighbouring countries. Brewer denotes in this speech as follows, let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty (22).

The Truman doctrine speech is also focussed on the United States of America. The speaker talks about the impacts of war in Greece. Press denoted in his book that, Greece is in desperate need for financial and economic assistance to enable it to resume purchases of food, clothing, fuel, and seeds (18).

The speaker goes ahead to talk about the efforts of the United States in ensuring their fellow countries resume to their former state. According to the report in the speech, the government of the United States of America funded other countries with $341,000,000,000 to enhance world freedom and peace.

Differences between the two speeches

In the JFK inaugural address, the speech is made after the Americans have already attained the freedom that they wanted. The speech is addressed to the citizens of the new generation who never witnessed the blood shed during the time of war. In his book, Sondhaus denotes that, we observe today not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedomsymbolizing an end, as well as a beginningsignifying renewal, as well as change (45).

The Truman doctrine speech was addressed after hearing pleas from Greece. The citizens of Greece were seeking economic and financial assistance from the US. The main motive of the speech was to address the issue of war. The aim of the speaker was to elucidate on the negative impacts of wars. He also wanted to urge the citizens of the United States that it is their responsibility to ensure that peace and economic stability are attained in Greece and Turkey.

According to the JFK inaugural address, individuals of a country have a responsibility of ensuring that freedom is attained in a country. The evasion of poverty in a country will depend on the ability of its citizens. Furthermore, the speaker attests that the rights of the citizens of a country emerge from the creator and not the kindness of the country.

Press attests that, the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God (30). In the Truman doctrine speech, the speaker states that a nation can attain its freedom through assistance from another country. While addressing the Americans, he attests that nations from different parts of the globe look up to the United States for help.

In this speech, he affirms that the free peoples of the world look to us for support in maintaining their freedoms. In the speech, he denotes that if the government of the United States does not assist Greece and Turkey, then the impacts will be much more devastating.

In the first speech, the speaker urges the neighboring nations on the south of America to join hands with them in ensuring that absolute peace is attained. They also pledge the citizens in the other countries to try their level best to oppose aggression. In the availability of wars amongst nations, peace may not be attained.

The second speech, which is the Truman doctrine, talks about how the citizens of Greece have been living in fear and horror of attacks. He also talks about the financial aids of different countries in an attempt to bring financial stability in Greece. Even though the country has many resources, it is languishing in total poverty that was brought forth by the colonial governments.

Conclusion

Conclusively, both speeches have tried to address the negative impacts of warfare. The main theme of both speakers is to tackle the issues of aggression and promote peace and freedom amongst the citizens of various countries. They have also tried to address the importance of sustaining peace in a country. In fact, it is very important to ensure that peace is sustained in various countries of the world. This should be the responsibility of all citizens.

Freedom of Speech in Staffords Burning a Book

The concept of freedom of speech has been the center of debates for centuries in human societies in various cultures. One of the components of such an idea is the freedom of expression, which is closely connected with the right to express ones opinion and beliefs in written form. It is known as book banning when private individuals, public officials, or groups prevent books from being read because they disagree with their themes, ideas, or tone. Those who support a ban claim that the book contains graphic violence is sexually explicit, glorifies immorality, is unworthy of literary merit, is inappropriate for a specific age range, or uses offensive language. However, the burning of books cannot be perceived as civilized censorship and should not be supported in the modern world due to ideological and personal factors.

There are two points of view through which the issue must be studied. First, the personal perception of content can be considered dangerous individually and consequently censored due to the assumptions of separate individuals. The second aspect is the ideological danger when books are banned nationwide, which can lead to fanaticism. The personal aspect is widely portrayed in Vonneguts letter I am very real (1973). The author explains his perspective on the situation when Charles McCarthy, the head of Drake High School, decided that Vonneguts novel was inappropriate due to obscene language.

The books were burned; however, such an act exposed the leadership of a school as barbaric, unable to perceive different depictions of the world. The author points out that it is true that some of the characters speak coarsely because people speak coarsely in real life (Vonnegut, 1973). Two main conclusions can be made according to McCarthys reasoning. The school refuses to show children an uncensored perspective on life, which can be harmful to them facing such aspects growing up because the burned book could not change the natural setting of the world. Additionally, personal disrespect toward others opinions and beliefs is unacceptable in the modern world. The author uses personal appeal to show that the schools leaders dismiss the personal experience explained in the book. In conclusion, he uses the phrase you have insulted me, and I am a good citizen, and I am very real to emphasize the emotive response (Vonnegut, 1973). This perspective reflects the uncivilized nature of the burning book, which restricts freedom of speech and expression and can harm the individual who created the book.

Another ideological point of view is discussed in the poem by Stafford presents a point that books should be burned. In the poem Burning a book, the narrator claims that certain publications should be burned because they are biased or hateful (Stafford, 1986). There were indeed such cases in history where books presented a danger to society through the propaganda of particular ideologies or supporting ideas of dictators. Burning books, for instance, had a form of purification procedure for the German language during World War II, resulting in fanaticism. Nevertheless, Stafford pointed out that a few charred words are still present after the book has been burned. It means that the fire cannot purify society or erase the ideas presented in the books, but instead, it leaves a trace of them in the present and peoples minds.

Therefore, society must be educated to analyze the content of books, even the most dangerous, and make personal conclusions about them to differentiate harmful ideas from the truth. It is the only way to create stable, established social connections, not through burning books. Regardless of individual or social censorship, burned pages cannot prevent people from encountering dangerous ideas and situations, and civilized communication must be the primary tool in forming views in such cases.

Informative Speech Topic Selection: Cyberbullying

Introduction

When selecting the topic, one should consider such factors as applicability and audience coverage. Cyberbullying prevention in schools is the most suitable subject as it meets the criteria above. The thesis statement will look as follows: Since cyberbullying is widespread in many schools, it becomes important to find the best practices to prevent this deteriorative phenomenon.

Discussion

The best organizational type for this informative speech is topical because it allows regarding the problem from different points of view. For instance, one can take cyberbullying and psychology to examine what mental disorders in students cyberbullying can lead to. In addition, it is possible to pay attention to the legal aspects of this practice on the national and international levels. Moreover, considering the existing strategies and programs for cyberbullying prevention and examining their effectiveness can also help develop a new initiative.

The core audience for this speech is combined and comprises students and their parents. Students can play both roles of victims and offenders. One can adapt the speech concerning the peculiarities of how to react to cyberbullying for the first subgroup and the explanations of the consequences of the offensive practices for the second one. When addressing parents, such aspects as recognizing the signs of cyberbullying and how to help their children when they become victims can be worth covering.

Supporting materials for the proposed speech include facts, real-life stories of victims, and examples of existing preventive programs. Facts encompass the definition of cyberbullying to make it possible for the audience to identify whether they have ever encountered this phenomenon and its types. Real-life stories will show students and parents how the practice occurs, suggesting possible ways to avoid or react to cyberbullying. The examples of implemented programs can facilitate the development of new effective programs for a particular community or school.

Conclusion

The chosen sources include the book Reducing Cyberbullying in Schools: International Evidence-Based Best Practices (2018) by Marilyn Campell and Sheri Bauman and the article Cyberbullying Prevention and Intervention Programs in Schools: A Systematic Review (2017) by Ibrahim Tanrikulu. The book addresses a detailed explanation of the phenomenon and legal and parenting perspectives. The article highlights and reviews different preventive strategies and programs in terms of their type and effectiveness that can help direct efforts to new preventive approaches.

Self-Image Speech: Noras Case

Nora used several types of transitions throughout her speech which helped her organize the flow of her self-presentation. Firstly, she used the cause-effect connective word so to tie the introduction with the box full of items defining Noras self-image (Sprague et al., 2019). Next, she used the connector also while describing the importance of such boxes in Filipino culture. Finally, Nora used a chronological connector, lastly, to make a smooth transition to her engagement ring, the final part of her current image. Overall, her speech contained an appropriate amount of connective words, making it easier for the listeners to follow Noras story.

In addition, Nora managed to create a powerful and effective introduction to her speech. She started her speech with a question about the parts of identity. This question was a solid attention-getter, a thought-provoking move that engaged the audience in thinking and listening (Sprague et al., 2019). Upon expressing the essential parts of her self-image, such as her profession and family, Nora delivered a decent conclusion. She openly expressed pride in her self-image and encouraged the listeners to feel the same, thus demonstrating the value of her topic.

Finally, Nora performed fairly well in terms of speech delivery. She maintained good eye contact with the audience, which contributed to the power of her message. The speech was well organized, as it had a distinctive and well-composed introduction, body, and conclusion. The only slight flaw was the pace and tone of Noras speech she talked faster than normally and sounded a bit insecure in certain moments. Considering these facts, I would have given Nora an A- grade for her effort. I would have commended her for her excellent use of transitions, a solid introduction with an attention-getter, and a powerful conclusion. At the same time, I would have recommended practicing delivery in order to improve control over the tone and the pace of her speech.

Classical and Rogerian Persuasion in Speech

Introduction

The use of persuasion in peoples speech mostly takes place in political speeches, where candidates want to provide the audience with the relevant information and to make them believe and perceive given information. Political life is the most persuasive in its nature as all political powers, especially in the time of high political activity, want to have peoples voices and try to make their speeches full of sense, persuasion and trusted. Researching the persuasion of speeches, theorists define two types of it, classical and Rogerian, which are used by the speakers equally, in spite of the fact that have some significant differences.

Main body

Starting with classical type of persuasion, the significant feature of it is that three parties are involved in the discourse, and one part wants to prove the third one that the truth is on its side, not on the side of the second part. In fact two parties try to introduce their opinions and thoughts, usually contradicting, to convince the third party in their credibility. All the political debates and jurisdictional systems of the country are based on the classical persuasion theory (Wilbers par. 2). Rogerian persuasion is something different from classical, first of all by the number of participants, only two parties are involved without the third, judging one. These two sides do not search for opposing arguments, they just try to convince the other party to take up their position. The theme of the conversation is the same, the ideas are also alike, but some controversy sides are not confirmed. The main aim of Rogerian persuasion is to find common ground, but not to search for oppositions (Wilbers par. 3).

From the point of view of these two different persuasion types, all the political debates and speeches may be analyzed and conclusion provided about the type of persuasion used in this or that case. Taking the example of Nelson Mandelas speech and Frederik Willem de Klerks speech the conclusion may be made which type of persuasion was used. Frederik Willem de Klerks persuasion was of Rogerian type as he wanted to make people understand the importance of the end of apartheid. The arguments, which he introduced, were rather strong and he managed to end the apartheid, dwelling upon free Africa. The aim of his speeches was to convince people, but not to provide people with the opposing arguments, so the conclusion is that the Rogerian persuasion type was used (Klerk 590).

Analyzing Nelson Mandelas essay, the following features of his methods may be derived, he used the opposing, sometimes even violent methods in introducing his point of view about free South. Mandela acted revolutionary, with the signs of violation on the streets and direct conviction to the side of that government, which provided the politics of apartheid (Mandela 587). So, Mandelas actions may be considered as the classical persuasion, as all he did was directed on persuasion of others by means of opposite ideas.

In conclusion, theorists identify two types of persuasion, classical and Rogerian, which differ by the number of participants and methods of persuasion used. Classical persuasion is based on the opposing ideas, while Rogerian is just the argumentative persuasion, the aim of which is to incline the person to the offered opinion. Political sphere is the sphere, where both these types of persuasion are used in order to make people believe the politicians and take up their side.

Glassblowing Speech by Courtney Draper

A bright and robust speech is when the audience catches every word of the speaker, gesture, and change of intonation. It is the ability to inspire and delight with the speech. A good presentation requires preparation, and the Glassblowing Speech is an excellent example of how to catch the audiences attention. Speaking in public and engaging an audience is a great art, and a speaker demonstrates a mastery of it from the very beginning. Even from the introduction, the presenter attracts the audiences attention by posing a question (Draper, 2020). Live communication, reasoning aloud, and joint discussion of questions are the primary methods that help to interest and involve the audience in mastering the topic. It is crucial to present facts, ask for opinions, and draw conclusions from the audience. It is the strategy the speaker adheres to, which makes her a good attention-getter.

Moreover, she first outlines the presentations main points, including the history, followed by the tools and appliances necessary to make the glassblowing function. The last point is the beauty and functionality of the final products (Draper, 2020).

This approach contributes to a more reasonable audience understanding by adequately structuring the presentation. The speaker stuck to the topic clearly, so she was easy to listen to; she felt confident, and the speech was calm (Draper, 2020).The oration was logical, contributing to a complete understanding of the story, and accordingly, the delivery fully met the theme and purpose. The text was prepared beforehand, allowing to avoid hitches, long silences, repetitions, and awkward situations. The narrator almost did not take her eyes away from the screen, which made her feel very present and involved.

Moreover, she had great energy in her voice, enthusiasm, and love for the topic, which only made it more interesting. The high-pitched tone held the attention, and one did not want to take ones eyes off the screen (Draper, 2020). Sources of information were identified, for example American Scientific Glassblowers Society. She used transitions from the introduction to the main body and conclusion. This way of laying out the speech facilitated the connection between the sentences and parts of the presentation. The transitions were effective and combined the emotional and rational background of the story, making it understandable to the audience. The speech was informative and exciting to everyone because it included a story and examples with pictures (Draper, 2020). Supporting the story with illustrations promotes a deeper understanding of the subject of the speech and creates a desire to study the topic in more detail.

Furthermore, the author gives examples that fill the speech, making it not dry but full and more enjoyable. She included the brake light as the author used phrases to conclude, in the end, and thus she brought the audience to the end of the presentation. The author likewise emphasized the speechs main points and cemented in the audiences mind the main conclusions of the story (Draper, 2020). The speaker did it very briefly while addressing the audience, which was adequate. The end can be called strong because the story ended by stimulating the audience to think and search for answers to questions that promote memorization of information and its synthesis.

From the oration, I have learned that the main task of the speaker is to transform a fresh speech into a colorful and memorable text that will attract the entire audiences attention. The combination of colloquial and artistic pronunciation styles helps to create an effective self-presentation, to gain the confidence of listeners, to inspire them with some information, and to stimulate them to action. For public speaking to be successful, speakers should keep in mind the means of communication with the audience. To fully master the art of public speaking, it is necessary to combine gestures, facial expressions, and eloquence properly.
